We are overcome, by grief, frustration, guilt, helplessness and fear

This newsletter has been one of the toughest we've ever put together - Nordic Walking has been on the back-burner all Summer. We've desperately missed the health-giving nourishment our Nordic Walks provide and missed our regular catch ups with the Nordic Walking community.  We developed an acute appreciation for fresh air and living nature.  We've learnt that Cabin Fever is very real.

Australia is being ravaged by the worst wildfires seen in decades, with large swaths of the country devastated since the fire season began in late July.  The scale of destruction will take years, if not decades, of recovery. The losses Australia is experiencing in lives and property are still staggering, and not yet over. At least 29 people have been killed. More than half a billion animals, by some estimates, have perished or are facing starvation or dehydration in devastated habitats. And more than 3,000 homes have been destroyed. In total, more than 7.3 million hectares (17.9 million acres) have been burned across Australia's six states -- an area larger than the countries of Belgium and Denmark combined. The worst-affected state is NSW, with more than 4.9 million hectares (12.1 million acres) burned. We are all in shock.

We are hoping like crazy that something positive can come out of such devastating and on-going events. Hoping that these events act as a wake-up call, not only to Australia, but to all nations.  Read more about the impact to our unique environment, precious wildlife, homes, livelihoods and way of life here.
