Will Brexit or Coronavirus effect A+T?


We are seeing no Brexit effect on our business and anticipate none. After next year there may be some changes in VAT treatment. We don't expect any changes in pricing for the current year.
With regards to Coronavirus, all our products are made and tested here in Lymington with only a very modest amount of components coming from Asia. We have plenty of stock of these parts so anticipate no problems, unless the epidemic runs for many months.

Shut-off Values (SOV) and N2K compatible depth sensors


Many large superyachts, sail and motor, are built with gate-valves to meet class/survey requirements and to allow insertion and removal of speed and depth sensors with no water ingress. The alternative being vastly expensive and complicated. A+T are the only manufacturer supplying these gate-valves for both refits and new builds as well as the depth and speed sensors for them.  
We also make a full range of accessories:-
  • Converter/sounder to provide N2K compatible depth output.This allows use of SOV with B&G H5000 or Furuno. The sounder also has matching transformers to enable the cable length between it and the transducer up to 30m. We have come across many issues with installers unsuccessfully trying other solutions for this, contact us to discuss.
  • Gravity changeover switch, replacement for traditional depth or speed selector when two transducers are used.
  • N2K changeover switch, takes two N2K sources of speed or depth and selects one to output either on basis of heel or Apparent Wind Angle
Contact us here if you every have special requirements or advice, we are happy to do custom projects, but may well have an existing solution.

We make new valves and isolation kits to replace ones that are damaged, often due to lack of service and/or corrosion. We also supply a good number to replace XTL fins speed logs for which the underwater parts are no longer available.

Arguments to upgrade with A+T. 


We are now fully into the northern hemisphere refit season.
Below we summarise the main reasons why you should consider putting an A+T upgrade forward to engineers, captains, shipyards, project managers and owners.

In summary these are:-

  1. Best solution for an upgrade, the specification is higher than H5000 and comparable with WTP with very good engineering.  Gives a yacht another 10+ years of supported instrument performance.
  2. Generally, the lowest cost way to upgrade as existing wiring, sensors and in many cases some or all displays can be used and then changed out later as needed.
  3. Excellent support and service round the clock.
Furthermore:-

1. Reputation. The reputation of Richard Tinley for service and repairs is legendary and there are few well-travelled high-end yachts that have not at one time or other sent equipment to him and his team for attention.
Now after only four years, A+T equipment is already on a who’s who of the world’s largest and fastest yachts. Half of the yachts at the 2019 St Barth’s Bucket are clients of A+T.
 
2. Focus.  A+T only provide instruments for superyachts, grand prix racing yachts, classic yachts and those who want the very best equipment available. There is no ambition to chase into the mass market or to widen into chart plotters, radars and so forth. A+T would prefer to maintain a concentrated group of loyal and happy clients.
 
3. Understanding.  A+T with years of experience in large yachts and race boats, really understand the range of current and historical sensors, communication protocols, noise, installation considerations, electrolysis issues and effects of lightning strikes. Whatever issue is raised, it is very likely that A+T have seen it before and can help.
