Be The Change You Want To See

With the 2020 General Election coming up on the 8th February, there has been a lot of conversation recently about Climate Action and Sustainability. The most important thing you can do to help fight for climate justice is to use your vote wisely. We have compiled some resources to help you vote for election candidates who are active about creating a greener more sustainable future for Ireland.

1. One Future is a campaign calling all Government Parties to act now for a faster, fairer climate action. They have multiple resources on their website, which you can use to question your candidate on their plans to make Ireland a greener country. Visit One Future here.

2. Not sure who the candidates are for you constituency? Check out the full listing here on Who Is My TD.

3. Not Here Not Anywhere is a grassroots project, which analyse Dáil voting records to find out which election candidate and political parties have been a positive voice for climate action in the Dáil. Find out your candidates climate score here.

Things to Check Out

1. Valentine's Day is another holiday that can cause a lot of consumer waste, from chocolates to cards, flowers to teddy bears. So choose wisely when you are buying for your loved one and make a memory instead. Go for a vegan/vegetarian meal, plan an activity like dancing or kayaking, or get tickets to a local event.

2. Pancake Tuesday is happening on the  25th of February. A lot of food waste can occur, so make sure you are only purchasing ingredients and toppings you need and will use. If you have leftover pancake batter, don't throw is out, save it for the morning. Try and buy organic, local and fair trade produce.

3. We are always keeping an eye and ear out on all the latest media broadcasts relating to sustainability and climate action. Here are some of the things we have been reading, watching and listening to recently:
WATCH - Mary Robinson
READ - No.More.Plastic.
LISTEN - Climate Queens
