Burns Night 2020
Our Burns Night celebration on the 24th of January supported by Project Grow was a great success! Over 70 people came down to St Michaels Church to enjoy some traditional Scottish cuisine and to dance during our Ceilidh.

The Hope Centre and ROAR did an amazing job at preparing the food, alongside some of our young people who were fantastic servers for the night. Guests of all ages joined in with the dancing and the night was rounded off with everyone grouping together for a rendition of Auld Lang Syne.

We’d like to give a big thank you to everyone who came along to this wonderful community event, and to all our brilliant volunteers for their help. We hope everyone involved had an amazing evening!

Ladybones
Amy, Keirra, and 10 of our young people from secondary club went on a fantastic trip to see the play Ladybones at HOME theatre in Manchester. It was a one-woman performance, focused on her life living with OCD. It portrayed 'being weird but not a weirdo,’ and was highly comical in areas, but made the audience think about how we treat people who are different to ourselves.

Nearly all our young people got involved with the audience participation during the performance, and everyone who went had a fantastic time!

Music Drop-In Sessions
Our music drop-in sessions are in full swing once again up at the Cre8 Building on Mayfield Terrace on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. School aged young people from the Moss Rose Estate aged 8 and up are welcome to pop in between 3:15 and 5:30 and try playing some of the instruments. Lessons in guitar, piano, bass, ukulele, drums, production & recording, and music theory are available, as well as Level 1 NOCN Qualifications in live music performance, digital sampling techniques for composition, and music theory. Support is also available for children doing music GCSE's in school, to help them achieve their fullest potential. Our young music leaders are on hand to pass on their skills, or to simply provide someone for our young people to jam with! Its a great after school activity for all our young people, and its wonderful to watch them developing new skills.

Tom's Goodbye
We are very sad to be saying goodbye to Tom, who will be leaving the Cre8 team after many years working with us. Here's a few words from Tom himself on his time at Cre8:
"February 14th is my last day at Cre8 after working with the charity, primarily as a youth worker, for the best part of 10 years. It has been a life-changing experience. Being an active part of the community on the Moss and having been accepted as part of people’s lives has been an immense privilege. I was never quite sure if the day would come where I would feel ok leaving the community. The connections I have built with young people and families during my time here are strong and I feel a sense of responsibility and commitment to everyone that I’ve worked with.

I’ve put a lot of myself into my work here, but have received so much more in return. Cre8 feels like it’s developing well and I know that there is a wonderful team of people here to continue investing in and enriching the local community. I’m a very different person now than when I started as a haphazard volunteer just over 10 years ago, and I only have the amazing people I have worked with and learned from to thank for that. I’m immensely sad to be leaving, but am starting to feel excited about our new adventure at Camas and am hoping to keep as connected as possible with the Cre8 Family in the future."
All of us here at Cre8 want to thank Tom for all the amazing work he's done over the years, and wish him and his family all the best in the future.
