Here are some brief updates on happenings with our Austin Huns RFC, along with a few save the dates and some well deserved kudos.
HUNS D1 WIN v Reds (again)!!
On a day that will live forever in Huns lore, our D1 boys put on a clinic in the second half last Saturday to overcome a 21 point deficit, roll over the Dallas Reds at Nixon Lane, and sweep the season series with those nefarious reprobate North Texas bastards!
First Half - The guys came out flat, the Reds capitalized, and the Huns ended the half down 31-10. Shit!
Second Half - Let us just quote coach Adam "Schneebly" Scheidler: "... after D1 had the worst half of the season, they showed incredible heart, cohesion, confidence & panic-free rugby to find a way to get that W!" Boy, no kidding! Six second half tries by both the scrum and the backs; great finisher contributions by Jeff Easthagen, Conor Cole, Shawn Cox, Matt Zappa, and all the subs; and OUTSTANDING defense and patience by all the Huns overcame their deficit and they emerged victorious! SWEET! D1 is now 3-1 on the season, has swept the Reds, and has played the Blacks very tough over at Burr. What a start to our year!

HUNS D2 Also Beat the Reds!
Also on Saturday, our D2 guys avenged an early season loss to Reds 2 with a dominating effort by the score of 51-25! These gentlemen have been working hard, have been improving each week, and put absolutely everything together on Saturday for a win that was even more convincing than the score might indicate. Way to go, Huns!
HUNS D3 Is Doing Great, Too!
Our D3 squad is off to a 4-2 start per the table standings and they are sitting in a solid 2nd place half way through the season. Nice work, guys!

March 28th - Old Timers Day at Nixon Lane (three matches: 2 v W HTX, and 1 v Alamo City)
April 4th - Huns Golf Tournament at Shadow Glen Golf Club
These will all be HUGE Huns events and you don't want to miss out! See you there!
Huns Youth Rugby
This part of our Club just keeps getting better and better! We have 150 + kids out this year, including middle school and high school squads! Hats off to Scott Constable and all youth volunteers! If you're interested in giving back to rugby and having a fun run out, just show up out at Nixon Lane about 8:30 AM or so on any given Saturday and give it a go. We'd love to have you participate in this great part of our club!

Our Merchandise Manager, Chris "Arugula" Aguero, has several new goodies for guys like Matt Hull and Billy O (and others) who just can't get enough Huns Gear in their closets. Huns Social Memberships
We are still hovering at 58 paid Social Members, with another 9 guys having promised to renew or join in short order. Candidly, there are at least another 30 or more old boys on top of that who should join up! We know some guys have been sitting on the fence waiting to see how our governance and culture have worked themselves out over the last few years, but JESUS, GUYS! If what's going on right now isn't enough to get you to join up for a nominal $125 and pitch in to this success, we don't know what is:
- D1 Sweeps the Reds and Plays the Blacks incredibly tough at Burr
- D2 Steamrolls the Reds 2 Squad
- D3 is 4 W and 2 L to start the season

Coach Schneebly recently posted on the club's Facebook Team Chat Page that it takes a club to succeed in all three of our divisions. And - he's - 100% - right! Great job coaches and players! Great job also to all of our player and old boy volunteers who keep everything moving operationally week in and week out. Finally, super kudos to these three behind the scenes guys who are doing a great job with our off the field stuff to keep our players and coaches rolling and focusing on rugby.
