Tuesdays, February 4, 11, 18, 25 | Third Degree Glass Factory - 6:00p – 9:00p - PATH TO INDEPENDENCE: 4-WEEK TUESDAY NIGHTS – $350 - Learn to make your own glass art! Our comprehensive Path to Independence coursework will give you all the knowledge you need to start making your own artwork as an independent artist. We offer small class sizes and provide all the tools necessary to finish your work to perfection. Complete four months (48 class hours) of these courses, and we will certify you to work independently in your preferred studio! You could even start selling your work in our gallery! Available in Glassblowing, Flameworking or Fused Glass.
Wednesday, February 5 - Gamlin Whiskey House - Women & Whiskey - SOLD OUT! - On the first Wednesday of every month, raise a glass with us and your fellow women who whiskey! February's dinner will be hosted by Becky Harris, chief distiller at the Virginia-based Catoctin Creek Distillery. Tickets are $65 per person and include dinner, drinks, whiskey pairings, gratuity and, of course, an awesome night out!
Saturday, February 8 and 14 - The Candle Fusion Studio - Treat your Valentine to an extraordinary experience of the senses. This annual event is a favorite and sells out! Join us for an evening of hands-on creativity and adventure at our Central West End studio. Together, create your own romantic candlelight. Choose from 100+ fragrances to blend together at the candle bar. Couple package includes two custom 8 oz “pour your own” candles, two drinks (wine/beer), chocolates and live music. Cost is $65 per couple. Two event dates to choose from: celebrate on Saturday, February 8 or Friday, February 14. Reservations are highly recommended. Wednesday, February 12 - World Chess Hall of Fame - 6:30-8p - A Beautiful Game: Artist Talk with Jennifer Shahade - Join us for an artist talk with WGM Jennifer Shahade! Learn more about her and Daniel Meirom’s collaborative piece "Not Particularly Beautiful," featured in the exhibition "A Beautiful Game," their inspirations for the work, and Jen’s commitment to anti-bullying. Following the discussion, attendees are welcome to participate in an interactive activity that explores the impacting effects of one’s words on others.
Thursday, February 13 - World Chess Hall of Fame - Composer Series : Bulgarian Sketches - 7-8p - Join us for a special presentation of works for cello and piano by Bulgarian composers. As featured on the recently released CD, "Bulgarian Sketches," these little-known pieces are inspired by Bulgaria’s rich folk vocal and instrumental music traditions. Marta Simidtchieva is currently the Professor of Cello at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. An avid advocate for contemporary music, including the music of composers from her native Bulgaria, Marta released her album, "Bulgarian Sketches" in 2018. The CD received a silver medal for Outstanding Achievement for a New Release by the 2019 Global Music Awards. The CD was also recorded with dynamic pianist Kris Pineda. Reservations are required. $10 tickets available for members, seniors, and military. $20 general admission.

Learn about our hands-on experiential learning, diversity in our community and curriculum, and much more. Meet our faculty and staff, tour our building, learn about our admissions process and Variable Tuition program, and see our school in action. Thursday, February 13 - The Candle Fusion Studio - Galentine's Day Girlfriend Party - 6:30-8p - Cheers to girlfriends! Join us on Thursday, Feb. 13th evening for a Galentine's Day celebration at BOTH studio locations, Central West End and Historic St. Charles. Gather your friends and enjoy an evening of candlemaking and wine at both studio locations. Explore our candle library (over 100+ fragrances), choose your favorites, and create your signature scent at the candle bar. Then, continue the fun at The Vino Gallery in the Central West End or Tompkins by the Rack House in Historic St. Charles for a glass of wine (just steps away!). Friday, February 14 - Valentine’s Day Parents Night Out - Premier Martial Arts - An activity-filled Parents Night Out for the kids at Premier Martial Arts while you enjoy a relaxing Valentine's evening. 5:30PM-8:00PM for $25/child from ages 5-12.
Friday, February 14 - Bowood Farms - Modern Lettering - Ditch the pointed pen, ink and nib and join us for a fresh take on hand lettering with professional calligrapher, Katherine Yabes, of Handwritten by Katherine. With the convenience of a Pentel Sign pen you will learn the art of faux calligraphy. All skill levels are welcome. Take home two pens and worksheets to continue your practice. Price: $65. Wednesday, February 19 - World Chess Hall of Fame - Crafts & Cocktails: Soft Sculptures with Alexa Clavijo 6:30 - 8p - Join Alexa Clavijo for an evening of crafting abstract soft sculptures! Inspired by the exhibition Michael Drummond: Being Played, participants will find innovative ways to use fabric to make one of a kind works of art. Clavijo will cover the basics of cutting and sewing reclaimed textiles to create sculptural pieces.
Saturday, February 22 - Bowood Farms - Fleur De Lis Watercoloring - Learn how to create a loose and unique watercolor painting of a Fleur de Lis with the guidance of artist Amy Woods. Explore watercolors by focusing on mixing color and seeing how water and paint interact without the pressure of drawing. Amy will show you how to blend colors to expand your palette as well as brush techniques to create different textures. This class is open to all levels of experience. All materials will be provided, and you’ll go home with your own palette and paintbrush. Price: $60. Taught by: Amy Woods. Workshop is limited to 12 people. Wednesday, March 4 - World Chess Hall of Fame - Clothing Swap Hosted by Sarah Stallmann & Michael Drummond - Do you have unworn yet well-loved items in your closet and interested in creating a more sustainable wardrobe? Join us for a community-style clothing swap with fashion editor Sarah Stallmann and "Michael Drummond: Being Played" designer Michael Drummond. https://worldchesshof.org/exhibit/michael-drummond-being-played Browse offerings brought by fellow attendees to shop from and come home with a newly refreshed wardrobe, personally styled by Sarah and Michael. Any items remaining following the swap will be donated to a local charity organization. Please bring 3-5 gently-worn and pre-washed articles of clothing on hangers and/or accessories (limited to shoes and handbags) that are in good condition—clothing for adults of all genders and sizes welcome. Please refrain from bringing kid’s clothes, gym wear, jewelry, and winter accessories. Arrive comfortably dressed; private changing areas will be available. Availability is limited to 25 guests. Cathedral Concerts announces their 2019 - 2020 season - Saint Louis Cathedral Concerts, an independent nonprofit that brings sacred and classical music to St. Louis from world-class musicians, releases its concert lineup for the 27th season. The 2019-2020 season kicks off Monday, July 29th at 8:00pm, and continues through Friday, April 21st, 2020. The series of live concerts will showcase notable musicians in one of the world’s most striking cathedrals, the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis located at 4431 Lindell Blvd. The Cathedral Concerts’ 27th Concert Series Season includes:
