We will have a fun project that Cyndy and Kim have put together,
a bracelet project to work on during our meeting. The materials used will be available from Stoney Creek Beads and be under $10. Members can either purchase pearls to use in it or bring their own glass beads, spacer sized or a little larger that have holes approximately 3/32 “. If members use their own glass beads all they will have to purchase is the leather cord and a button for the clasp which Kim estimates to be maybe $5.
We will also review our calendar for the year, discuss the potential upcoming shows, talk about additional planned classes, workshops and activities (Jerri Warhaftig class, Fall Retreat, Pop-up classes...). If you want a say in what's happening - come to the meeting!
No, you haven't entered a time warp - weather permitting, everything is the same as last month except the date and our impromptu challenge!
February Challenge!!! - Sylvus dreamt up a quick little challenge for our February meeting; little hearts! The guidelines are 12 to 16 beads, bracelet size, reds, pinks, and white.
Flame on!
A note from our President!
“Creativity is a choice. First and foremost you tell yourself I am a creative person, and I want to live my life creatively. That choice then opens for you the door to creative brilliance.”

Happy February creative friends!
So the groundhog did not see his shadow and we are going to have an early Spring, as the folklore goes! I for one have been happy with a milder winter so far…keeping my fingers crossed that we stay on this pathway.
I was recently reading this interesting article titled, “ Does falling in love make us more creative?
When you think about it love has inspired many works of art ie Romeo and Juliet. This raises the question: why is love such a stimulating emotion? Why does the act of falling in love-or at least thinking about love-lead to such a spur of creative productivity?
Researchers found that love really does alter our thoughts and that this profound emotion affects us in a way that is different than simply thinking about sex.
The experiments performed demonstrated that love makes us think differently in that it triggers global processing, which in turn promotes creative thinking and interferes with analytic thinking, Thinking about sex, however, has the opposite effect: it triggers local processing, which in turn promotes analytic thinking and interferes with creativity.
So why does love make us think more globally? The researchers suggest that romantic love induces a long-term perspective, whereas sexual desire induces a short term perspective. And because love activates a long-term perspective that elicits global processing, it should also promote creativity and impede analytic thinking. In contrast, inasmuch as sex activates a short-term perspective that elicits local processing, it should also promote analytic thinking and impede creative thinking.
One of the most noteworthy implications of these experiments is that love and sex don’t simply influence the way we think about the people we love or desire. Instead, they influence the way we think about everything.
The takeaway lesson is that thinking about love, or anything that promotes a distal perspective or global processing, can make us more creative.
I know it was a somewhat long way to say, in other words, less sex makes you more creative!! Something to ponder as we approach Valentine’s Day!
As I talked about in the January newsletter, for part of 2020 we will be having a murrini challenge. So, at the February meeting on Sunday, the 9th, we will be passing out some Double Helix murrini and also some murrini from Kaz Baildon. Gorgeous colors abound! I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with for the challenges!
The board has been busy planning for 2020 and we have a lot of information to share with you!
