Full Text Made Easy With LibKey Nomad

If you are a Google Chrome user and are looking for easier access to full text articles from PubMed, publisher websites, or Wikipedia, give LibKey Nomad a try.
  • Get the LibKey Nomad Chrome extension from the Chrome Web Store.
  • Click Add to Chrome
  • Click Add Extension
  • Select Albert Einstein College of Medicine as your institution

When LibKey Nomad is activated, PubMed citations will include thumbnail images of journal covers, links to download PDFs (if available), and the option to view the complete issue of the journal. When LibKey can’t find a PDF, it will offer other access options, including interlibrary loan.

You might also notice the LibKey Nomad button popping up on publisher websites and in resources such as Wikipedia to alert you to the availability of full text.

LibKey Nomad can be used from on- or off campus. It currently works with the Chrome and Brave web browsers. Support for the newest version of Microsoft Edge should be coming soon.

If you have any questions, ask a librarian.

2019 Novel Coronavirus Resources

The Johns Hopkins ABX Guide, available on uCentral from Unbound Medicine, provides up-to-date information on this rapidly changing situation.

GIDEON (Global Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology Online Network), is a global infectious disease database used for diagnosis and references in the field of tropical medicine, epidemiology, microbiology and antimicrobial chemotherapy. Click on the Updates tab and select 2019-Novel coronavirus infection.

The following resources are available from the National Library of Medicine:

PubMed Gets an Upgrade

An updated version of PubMed is now available. The new PubMed will become the default in spring 2020 and will ultimately replace the legacy version. Click on the blue banner at the top of the page in PubMed to try the new interface.

The new website is designed to be compatible with any screen size. The homepage includes links to many popular sites including E-utilitiesAdvanced search, and the MeSH database. A link has also been added to the recently published FAQs and User Guide.

PubMed is prioritizing the development of new features based on user research, including usability testing, analytics, and feedback from users. Feedback can be sent to the National Library of Medicine by clicking on the green Feedback button located at the bottom right of any page on the new website.

Learn how to optimally search the biomedical literature with the new interface in our New PubMed workshop on March 5. Register online.

Moving to einsteinmed.org

The library’s website will probably migrate to https://library.einsteinmed.org later this month, but we don’t know the exact date yet. The change should be seamless for you because the old web address should redirect you to the new one. We will announce the change on our home page and include a list of the new URLs you should bookmark. If you experience problems accessing library resources or web pages, please notify us as soon as possible at askref@einsteinmed.org. You can also text us at 718.407.0761, use the chat box on our home page, or call the Circulation Desk at 718.430.3111 or the Reference Department at 718-430-3104.
