"The starkness of winter has its own extraordinary beauty. I spent a few very happy hours sitting in a sheltered lakeside spot, painting this cluster of trees. I love their thin, jagged trunks, the flecks of light spilling over the water and illuminating the bark, and the combination of beautiful shapes that pull this picture together."
"Before the appearance of ‘tower block’ structures of straw and hay bales, these traditional smaller bales were a common sight. Now when I see them dotted across a field like giant rolls of butter I can’t resist capturing them in a painting, just in case we see fewer of them in future"
"The landscape around this beautiful part of the world changes by the minute, forming and reforming throughout the day in a constant evolvement of light and atmosphere. Some of the most striking moments in time are caught in the final moments of daylight when the sky starts to fold in and communities hunker down for the night."
Housekeeping:
We've repainted the middle gallery, the stairs & staircases, changed our front window display cases, updated some jewellery displays & introduced some large decals on the rear window to better sign visitors upstairs.
A request:
We have less than two weeks to apply for the annual Cumbria Tourism Awards & one area we are not doing so well is with is our Reviews on Goggle and FaceBook and now, this week, we're newly listed on TripAdvisor.
If you have had a positive time here in the gallery, would you consider leaving a positive review please?
