76th Government of Finland

 
On 10 December 2019, the President of the Republic of Finland appointed Prime Minister Sanna Marin’s Government, which is Finland’s 76th government. Marin’s Government is formed by the Social Democratic Party, the Centre Party, the Greens, the Left Alliance and the Swedish People's Party of Finland. The Government has 19 ministers.

New Exhibition of Finnish Public Libraries in DC: Mind-Building


Mind-Building showcases Finnish public libraries and library architecture, commissioned by Archinfo Finland originally for the Pavilion of Finland at the Biennale Architettura 2018 in Venice, Italy. The exhibition will be open for the public every first Tuesday of the month, from February 4th until June 2nd, 2020, from 4pm to 7pm at the Embassy of Finland in Washington D.C.

The opening ceremony featured a panel discussion  "Architectural Hope – Reinventing the Public Library” with prominent library and architecture advocates from Finland and the US. You can watch a recording of the conversation on Twitter.

Finland Showcase Brought Finnish Flavors to the Table


In December, in honor of Finland's 102nd Independence Day, the Consulate General in Los Angeles gathered 13 innovative food and beverage companies from Finland to showcase their products to guests, including investors, distributors, and partners. In addition to a wide variety of samples, the guests enjoyed a fully vegetarian menu by the award-winning Chef, Petteri Luoto. Check out photos from the event on Facebook

Love Letter to All Things Finnish American – FinnFest USA 2019 Detroit


FinnFest USA is an annual festival full of great food, folk dances, seminars and culture, all celebrating the Finnish American diaspora. In this first episode of the 2020s, the Suomi-Finland Podcast provides you a taste of the festival atmosphere from Detroit. You'll also hear how a young Minnesotan musician called Steve Solkela makes music reflecting his Finnish heritage.

Everything is Smart – Highlights and Tech Trends from CES 2020

 
The Consumer Electronics Show (CES), held in Las Vegas in January, is one of the largest tech events in the world. This year, 15 Finnish companies took part in the event.

The Consulate General of Finland in LA visited CES to learn all about the newest tech innovations, ranging from wireless, health and automotive tech to robotics, AI and gaming hardware. Click here to read the full article and to see the list of Finnish companies that participated the show.
