Follow Your Dreams!

February Career Assembly News - John Choi and Lynn Nordgren shared their career stories with Career Pathways students and staff.   Both leaders inspired us to follow our dreams and give back to our community.

Lynn always wanted to become a teacher. K-12 school was easy for her, but when she went to college she found it very challenging.  She persevered and had a rewarding career as a classroom teacher.  Former students still thank her for the extraordinary experiences she provided in and outside of the classroom.

John, a Korean immigrant, always wanted to help others.  After beginning in psychology, John switched majors in college to become an attorney.  There he found that public service and the promotion of restorative justice are his passions.  John Choi now serves as Ramsey County Attorney.

GOVERNMENT CLASS

This semester for social studies, some students are taking a government course.  They will be focusing on American government but also comparing other types of government while exploring the functions of government in different societies.  Students will be learning about the principals of government as well as looking at current events and political policy as the 2020 election approaches.   Students are working on important skills such as cause and effect, inference, and main idea while learning the content through a variety of sources.   The government class will be taking a field trip to the State Capitol at the end of the semester.
