Condoms are effective against STIs and unintended pregnancy. Condoms and internal condoms (feminine condoms) are the only methods of birth control that also help prevent the spread of sexually transmitted infections like HIV, chlamydia, and gonorrhea. Even if you are already using a different kind of birth control to avoid pregnancy, it’s a good idea to also use condoms every time you have sex to protect yourself from STIs. HIV and other sexually transmitted viruses and bacteria CAN be transmitted during oral, anal, or vaginal intercourse, so always use a condom. If you use lubricants, use only water-based lubricants with latex condoms. Avoid oil-based lubricants like cold cream, mineral oil, petroleum jelly, body lotions, massage oil, or baby oil that can damage latex condoms.

Mahalo, Kauai Sings Christmas Attendees!

The 14th annual Kauai Sings Christmas, a benefit for Malama Pono Health Services, was held December 21, 2019. Over the years, this event has become one of the most anticipated holiday events of the year. Each year, Jason Blake puts together a dynamic group of singers and musicians to bring the spirit of the holidays to life through song with a bit of comedy thrown in for fun. This lighthearted fundraiser has brought in much needed, unrestricted funding for Malama Pono Health Services as well as showcasing the important work that MPHS does in the Kauai community. Many thanks to all who attended this fun event!
