Lisa Toohey is a native of the Commonwealth of Virginia having been born and raised in Northern Virginia. She is the first one in her family to attend college. While working full time at the National Geographic Society, she attended night school for 9 years and earned her Bachelors of Science Degree in Marketing from George Mason University.
Her career at National Geographic Society spanned 21 years. Starting out as a darkroom technician Lisa advanced through increasing responsibilities as Geography Educational Program Logistics Coordinator, Advertising Office Manger and Advertising Marketing Specialist.
Following the birth of her son, Lisa chose to a stay at home. She continued to work in the community as school Parent Teacher Association officer, Home Owners Association Board Member, and community organizer. During this time she, again, attended night school to earn her Masters in Special Education from George Mason University and is currently a substitute teacher in the Loudoun County Public School System.
Lisa resided in Loudoun County Virginia with her husband and son who is a cadet at the Virginia Military Institute.
