A House Divided

Martin Luther King Jr., in his fight for equality gave a speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963 during during the March on Washington for jobs and freedom.

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

That line is taken from the actual speech.  It is often misquoted as (I have a dream that some day all men will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.)

What matters is not the exact wording.  What matters is the thought behind it.  


Most Americans have come to realize the truth of those words and have learned to live by them.

Unfortunately, the Democrat party has decided that the best way to get and keep power is to divide Americans along lines consistent with the color of their skin and not the content of their character.  They have further divided the country by income, religious beliefs, sexual preference, etc.  

“A house divided against itself cannot stand." I believe this government cannot endure, permanently half slave and half free. I do not expect the Union to be dissolved — I do not expect the house to fall — but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing or all the other.”

Abraham Lincoln

We again live in a “House Divided”.  Not by the issue of slavery, but by the issue of how the American people are to be governed.  The differences are as stark as slave states or free states!

Complete government domination of our lives 

or 

personal responsibility and self determination

The question can be rephrased this way:

Are American citizens slaves to the government 

or 

free to determine their own destiny?

What is meant by “complete government domination of our lives”?

All one has to do is look at what the Democrats (Socialists) are proposing or have already instituted.

  • The Economy:
  • Green New Deal
    Complete take over of our economy in order to stop climate change.  Can man really stop climate change?  Or is control of the economy the real objective?

    Control of business through regulations:

    That make it almost impossible for a business
    to terminate an undesirable employee.

    That make drugs legal, but hold employers responsible of damages caused by an employee on drugs.

    Minimum wage laws that give employees significant increases in pay without any increase in value to the employer.

    That dictates the make up of the board of directors of a company.

    Huge tax penalties on success.
  • Eliminate religious freedom:

    No matter what your religious beliefs are, you must pay for  unrestricted abortion through taxes! 

    To get a license to practice medicine,  you must agree to perform abortions.

    Institute laws that promote euthanasia….So called death with dignity laws.

     
  • Socialized Medicine:

    Complete government control of all medical.

    All private medical insurance illegal.

    Direct pay to a physician illegal.

     
  • Education:

    All children in state run schools, from as early as possible to higher education.  All paid for by the taxpayers.

    Elimination of charter schools.

    No school choice.

     
  • Elimination of private property:

    Complete control of all property, including private property through regulation.

    Expansion of  emanate domain laws.

     
  • Elimination of free speech:

    Determining what is hate speech.

    Determining what is a hate crime.

     
  • Elimination of parental rights:

    Determining what is child abuse.

    Determining what medical treatment your child will receive.

    Determining where your child will go to school.  What course will be available to them.

     
  • Eliminating the Constitution:

    Making the president answerable to the House of Representatives by using the impeachment process.

    No orderly transfer of power based on the election……in other words the will of the American people.

    Packing the Supreme Court.

    Eliminate the Electoral College

For those who say that implementing these laws is “Social Justice” not “Socialism.”  They make the point “Socialism” requires the government owning the means of production.

Definition of Socialism:

noun

a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

The Democrats may not want to own the business, but they want to control them through regulation and taxes.  Do you really own a business if you really have no control over how the business operates?

What is meant by personal responsibility and self determination?

  • The smallest possible government, which allows the individual to determine their own destiny.

    Hold individuals responsible for their actions.  They are entitled to the rewards and punishments for their deeds!

     
  • In business, allow the market place to determine winners and losers.
     
  • Eliminate government from competing with private business, for example, medical insurance.
     
  • Almost all problems are better solved locally.  Let the communities solve the problem.  No one size fits all.

The platform of knowledge:

In mathematics, deductive reasoning near-certain or certain conclusions are reached when there is a true premise.  Outliers are considered but if they are not weighty enough to change the premise, then the conclusion stands.

In philosophy, deductive reasoning is essence.  The outliers are called accidents.  If the accidents do not change the essence; then the essence stands.

In common sense, there are exceptions to any rule but if the exceptions are infrequent, then the rule stands.

The problem with government control is they are making rules and regulations and passing laws the affect everyone in order to satisfy “the outliers”, “the accidents”, and “the exceptions”.  The affordable care act, aka Obamacare is a perfect example of that.

“A house divided against itself cannot stand." 

Our house is divided!  Will you stand up for your beliefs and enter the fray?  This is the only way that you, and only you can effect the outcome!
