Self-care can be so many things... stillness, social connection, laughter, movement, taking a walk in nature, music, boundary setting, a difficult and honest conversation, a happy conversation, meditation, a warm hug, crying, silence to name a few... But the most important component of self-care is self-compassion. To have a clear non-judgemental awareness of our needs and having the courage, kindness, and love to listen to those needs. Self-care is an ongoing process of self-compassion not a list of activities to check off. We need to refill our own well to be able to freely serve others.
