In 2019, A Red Circle: held a Voter Registration BBQ; put on two Financial Empowerment classes; held two Healthy Mom and Baby Dinners for pre- and post-partum mothers; gave 44 healthy cooking demonstrations at the St. Louis Metro Market; held the grand opening of the Healthy Community Market to bring fresh food to North County; held a Healing for the Homeless Dinner; worked with children at risk to provide wrap-around services to prevent suspensions; hosted an Education Resource Fair; provided young adults with the tools they need to successfully transfer out of foster care and sponsored a Thanksgiving Dinner at St. Vincent’s Home for Children; put on a Dyslexia and Racial Equity seminar at St. Louis University; traveled to Jefferson City and welcomed Missouri Representative Ian Mackey to Education Advocacy Coalition meetings in support of legislation limiting the use of out-of-school suspensions; and held 7 Days in 1 Night, a Kwanzaa Celebration.
In the words of Board Treasurer Darryl Commings, despite our challenges, 'the work got done' - thanks to our supporters.
Here's to a strong 2020.
