Disability Royal Commission to visit Logan and Ipswich, Queensland
The Disability Royal Commission is inviting people with disability and their families to Community Forums in the Queensland cities of Ipswich and Logan on 4th and 5th February 2020.
At these Community Forums, you will be able to hear about the Royal Commission’s work, and you can also share your personal story of violence, abuse, neglect or exploitation with the Royal Commission.
If you have something to tell the Royal Commission but cannot attend a Community Forum, you can make a submission by phone, in writing or by making an audio or video recording. More information on how to make a submission is available on the Disability Royal Commission website.
All Community Forums will be accessible, with Auslan Interpreters and live captioning. If you would like to attend a Community Forum, please register to attend the Logan Community Forum on 4th February, or the Ipswich Community Forum on 5th February.

The Disability Royal Commission has released a schedule of planned events for the next six months, until June 2020. We have included this schedule below for your information.

Sydney hearing into health: From 17 February 2020
The Disability Royal Commission will hold a public hearing at the Novotel Sydney Olympic Park Hotel, starting 17th February 2020, for a period of up to two weeks. This public hearing will focus on the provision of health care or services for people with cognitive disability, including people with intellectual disability, autism and acquired brain injuries. Issues Paper: Health care for people with cognitive disability
The Disability Royal Commission Issues Paper on Health care for people with cognitive disability outlines the Royal Commission’s understanding of the key issues experienced by people with cognitive disability when accessing health care. The paper includes 10 questions to help people and organisations to provide responses. You can read the Issues Paper on the DRC website.
Issues Paper: Criminal Justice System
The Disability Royal Commission has released an issues paper on the criminal justice system. The Issues Paper is calling for responses about prisons and forensic mental health facilities where forced treatment, seclusion (solitary confinement) and other restrictive practices, such as physical, chemical and mechanical restraints may be used. The paper includes 9 questions to help people and organisations to provide responses. You can read the Issues Paper on the DRC website.

Responses can be in any language. The Royal Commission will translate the response to English.
