Help Prevent Litter and Pollution in Local Storm Drains

Storm drains are not trash cans. Did you know what goes into a storm drain ends up in our streams, rivers, and eventually the Chesapeake Bay? You can do your part to help prevent litter and reduce pollution.
  • Do not pour or throw unwanted items down local storm drains.
  • Recycle bottles, cans, and other accepted recyclables. Place trash in a trash or garbage can/cart.
  • Use our Recycling Wizard to find out how to properly dispose of chemicals, paints, oils, and other fluids where you live.
  • Pick up after your pet. Dispose of pet waste in your trash can.
  • Remember, only rain down the drain.
We can all help keep our waterways clean an litter free.
