It's time for you to dig out your diaries and to take a look at our tasting schedule for March. We have an excellent range of events on, and there's something for just about every taste.
We start with another Spirited Women event, which marks International Women's Day with a tasting of spirits distilled or blended by women. This is followed by Whisky, German & Austrian Wine, and Rum tastings.
On Sunday the 22nd you can treat your mum to a Mother's Day Fizz tasting (the best way to while away a Sunday afternoon), and we wrap up the month with our regular Cocktail Club.
We have two guest tastings for March. On Thursday 26th independent bottlers Adelphi will be pouring six of their fine whiskies. And on Friday 27th, Ralfy and North Star Spirits will be taking over our tasting room all day to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Care, with a coffee morning, an exhibition of art by Ralfy, and, in the evening, a tasting of whiskies bottled by North Star.
As always with our events, tickets are strictly limited and sold on a first come, first served basis.

FEBRUARY EVENTS
Old & Rare Whisky Tasting
Friday 7th February
Our sales pitch for this one is, “Try some drams you can’t buy”, which might seem a bit daft, given that we’re a shop. On the other hand, these drams are liquid history, and fascinating to taste. Angus MacRaild returns to present a selection of long lost whiskies and talk about the history of Scotch.

Bourbon Tasting
Saturday 8th February
There are now something like 2000 American whiskey distilleries. Sadly we won’t be able to taste our way round them all, but we will have six fine trans-Atlantic drams for you to sample.

Unicorn Spirits
Friday 14th February
The working title for this tasting was “The Weird Stuff”, but we figured that “Unicorn Spirits” sounds more exciting, and of course is much more social media friendly (soooo many GIFs). Join us to taste six hard to categorise, unusual, or just plain out-there distillates.

Gin Tasting
Saturday 15th February
These days it feels like there are more gin botanicals than gin drinkers, and nearly every gin producer likes to include something unique and local in their recipe. We’ll be sampling six gins, so that’s probably another two dozen botanicals to add to the list. And as always at our gin tastings, we’ll welcome you to the event with a delicious cocktail.

Spanish Wine Tasting
Sunday 16th February
From Galicia in the North-West, to Rioja, to Penedes, to Valencia and Murcia in the South-East, we’ll be touring the wine regions of Spain whilst tasting eight different wines. Please note that this is an afternoon event.

Rum Tasting - ONE TICKET LEFT
Saturday 22nd February
We’ll start this event with a specially devised rum cocktail before sampling six rums sourced from the Caribbean, Scotland, or other exotic locations.

The Good Cocktail Club
Saturday 29th February
Cocktail Club returns to its normal last Saturday of the month slot, and brings you three fabulous mixed drinks, demonstrations of how to make them at home, plus a sampling of some of the ingredients involved.

MARCH EVENTS
Spirited Women
Sunday 8th March
We loved doing this event last year, and loved the diverse range of spirits we tasted, so we’re really looking forward to this year’s version. Join us on International Women’s Day for a tasting of six spirits all distilled or blended by women. Please note that this is an afternoon event.

This is our regular monthly tour of the whisky shelves, sampling six of the new distillery releases and independent bottlings. A great way to choose your next whisky.

German & Austrian Wine Tasting
Sunday 15th March
Our first ever wine tasting devoted to Germany & Austria - we’ve featured many a delicious Riesling, Spätburgunder, and Grüner Veltliner in other events and at our wine fairs, but this is the first time we’ll be focusing exclusively on Germany & Austria. We’ll be tasting eight wines from these two countries, and yes, there will be Riesling. Please note that this is an afternoon event.

Rum Tasting
Saturday 21st March
No pirates, no coconuts, just six excellent rums from the five corners of the globe. Plus of course a delicious welcoming rum cocktail to kick off your evening.

Mothers Day Fizz Tasting
Sunday 22nd March
Treat your mum to a Sunday afternoon Sparkling Wine tasting (naturally, you should come too, right?). We’ll be sampling six fine fizzes in a variety of styles - everything from Prosecco to Champagne. Please note that this is an afternoon event..

Adelphi Whisky Tasting
Thursday 26th March
Adelphi are independent bottlers and founders of the Ardnamurchan distillery, and widely regarded as producing some of the finest single cask single malts on the market today. They’ll be bringing six top notch drams for you to enjoy.
For this event your ticket can be redeemed as a voucher against the purchase of a bottle of any whisky tasted on the night.

North Star X Ralfy Whisky Tasting
Friday 27th March
We’re the venue for a day of events organised by Ralfy and North Star Spirits to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Care. You are welcome to drop in from 10.30am-12.30pm for coffee, and at any time until 5pm to view (and purchase!) Ralfy's artworks. The whisky tasting (which IS ticketed) will be co-presented by Ralfy and Ciara Hepburn of North Star, and will feature a selection of whiskies drawn from the North Star vaults and donated by Iain Croucher.

The Good Cocktail Club
Saturday 28th March
If you’ve never yet tried our monthly cocktail event, you’re missing out. It’s a simple formula: delicious mixed drinks, skilful demonstrations of how to mix them, and a selection of interesting cocktail ingredients to sample.

WINES & SPIRITS COURSES
WSET Level 3 Award in Wines
Course Commences Thursday 19th March 2020
This six day course is an intensive wine education course required for entry into the Level 4 Diploma. This course is for wine enthusiasts who have an already thorough understanding of wine and who perhaps already work in the wine and drinks or hospitality industries.
This course is run over six Thursdays: March 19th & 26th, April 2nd, 16th, & 23rd, and May 7th. 10am-5.30pm each day. More information on the course can be found here.

WSET Level 2 Award in Spirits
Course Commences Sunday 19th April 2020
For individuals wishing to develop their expertise in spirits and liqueurs, you’ll learn about the fundamental production methods and principal raw materials discovering how they are used to make the key spirit styles. You’ll also explore the key practices and principles of serving spirits and the use of spirits in cocktails.
This course is run over three Sundays: 19th & Sunday 26th April and 10th May 2020, 10am-5.30pm each day. More information on the course can be found here.

Tasting tickets are sold on a first come first served basis and cannot be reserved without payment. Once sold, tickets will not be exchanged or refunded. However, should you purchase tickets which you are subsequently unable to use, we will assist you in attempting to resell them by advertising their availability online and in-store.
