  Accelerator Program
Weekly Update -  January 30, 2020
Dear <<First Name>>,

Every six months we have asked your Accelerator team coordinator to submit a coalition self-assessment and progress report. We know progress reports are not always fun to complete, but the data have been instrumental in helping us improve the program and showcase your work to state partners.

Later today you will receive an email that includes a link to an interactive dashboard for your coalition. It includes data from your team's original application to the program up until your most recent progress report. You can scroll through multiple pages and click on the filters to see changes over time.

We strongly encourage you to review the dashboard as a team and use it to reflect on your coalition’s evolution and growth. It may also be useful in preparing for your culminating presentation at the convening. We hope you like it!
Onward,

Coalition Spotlight

Drug Safe Solano kicked off 2020 embracing the new year and taking steps to improve their coalition. They have turned to their membership for feedback in revising the coalition's vision and mission statement, completed the big picture equity worksheet, and completed a collaborative self-assessment. They were awarded new funding to build on their work and have begun implementing a series of major activities including hiring a navigator to improve client access to MAT services, increasing their harm reduction efforts, and delivering community presentations and Narcan trainings. 2020 is off to a good start!

Does your coalition have a highlight to share in our weekly Accelerator newsletter or monthly COSN digest? Let us know!

(Time)

According to an investigation done by a team of researchers from UCSF the Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., pharmacies do not give consumers correct instructions in regards to drug disposal. In addition to the consequences of keeping unused drugs, the impact of environmental contamination from improper disposal is a growing concern. The article notes that recent studies have shown that clearer guidance and take-back events are an effective way to get people to dispose of opioids correctly and safely. Read More
