Dear <<Untitled>>

We hope you all had a good Christmas break. Is your holiday already feeling like a distant memory? It certainly is for us, with 2020 already well underway, with plenty going on.

If you are a client of our Lower Hutt practice, please be aware of upcoming road closures (more on that below), it's also your last chance to get in our draw to win a mountain bike. We've got all the updates for you coming up. First though, we say goodbye to two of our optometrists.

Staff Updates

Bon Voyage and Good Luck!

Graeme Meek, an institution at Total Eyecare, is retiring after 42 years.

Graeme has worked at all three practices over the years and with his interest in geriatric optometry will be missed by many long-standing clients.

We wish you all the best for your retirement, Graeme.
Elsie Tan, one of our optometrists in Johnsonville, is re-locating to Napier to be closer to family.

Elise has been with us since 2009 in which time she and her husband Matt have become the proud parents of two beautiful daughters. We’re jealous she’s heading to the warmer weather this summer!

Good luck with the move Elise. You will be missed.

Welcome Back

We are looking forward to having Stephanie returning in March to our Lower Hutt practice, after taking time off on maternity leave.

Two Locations

Hayden will soon be sharing his time between Calver Optometrists in Johnsonville and Black Gates Meek & Dong in Lower Hutt.

Upcoming Road Closure

Please be aware of a road closure affecting our Lower Hutt practice. This is due to the council’s Riverlink Summer Programme aimed at rejuvenating High Street and Lower Hutt's south end.

As part of the programme there will be further development of the outside seating area on Andrews Avenue and Sound Bites at Lunchtime will provide free outdoor entertainment every Friday from 12-2pm, from 7 February to 27 March.

Artists such as Aaron Andis, Daniel White, Brendon Mercer and Ainslie Allen will be performing.
Parking will still be available while this is going on, with 10 carparks outside our Lower Hutt practice, and more in High Street. Thanks for your patience while this work is being carried out.

Summer is here (we hope!)

In the summer time the difference in light between indoors and outdoors is most noticeable

Transition™ lenses are perfect for this time of year, changing their tint from clear (when indoors) to dark (when in full sun). Now is the perfect time to chat with us about your options for summer, with a MOUNTAIN BIKE up for grabs.
Traditionally Transitions™ have been grey, brown or graphite green, but they are also now available in four new style colours – emerald green, sapphire (above), amethyst and amber.
Purchase Transition™ lenses before 29 February 2020 for your chance to WIN a mountain bike!

In Case You Missed It ...

Do I Need Polarised Lenses?

Polarised lenses have a built in laminated filter that only lets in vertical light rays and blocks out the horizontal, making them the best option for driving and water sports like fishing. Find out more >
Are You Colour Blind?

Around eight in 100 males and four in 1000 females inherit colour deficiency. Sometimes people are only made aware after a random comment like, "it looks more red to me" is made. Learn more >
