A Note From Linda

In the beginning was the Word . . .

This opening clause, from perhaps one of the most famous sentences in all of Western civilization, contains one of the foundational premises of Unity co-founders Charles and Myrtle Fillmore's theology. The Fillmore's were following a long line of those whose lives were based on the power of the "Word." As early as the 7th century B.C., the teachings that comprise the book of Deuteronomy reports that just before his death, Moses tells the people of Israel to keep the "Word" of God that has been written in their very hearts.
It's tempting to boil the idea behind the "Word" to merely "thinking" or "thought," but to Moses' audience, the Hebrews in the ancient Near East, thinking was not the solving of abstract problems; it did not entail premises and conclusions, but rather it pointed to a grasp of Totality. So, what is the "Word"? Does it have any bearing on our day-to-day lives? I look forward to joining together with you this Sunday in prayer, song, and exploration of that which "was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be," that which as the quote below declares has the power to change the direction of human history. With much love, Linda

From Written in Our Hearts; the Practice of Spiritual Transformation, by Theodore Nottingham:

A rediscovery of the Divine in the midst of life will enlighten enough minds to alter the dangerous course of human ignorance, greed, and violence.

New! UCOG Healing Prayer Circle

The Prayer Chaplains will lead a Healing Prayer Circle (HPC) based on focused intention and the limitless healing power of God.   It will be held on the 3rd Sunday of every month after service in the library starting February 16th.

The HPC harnesses the miraculous energies of a small group to heal others, ourselves and the world.  Each HPC will focus conscious prayer on healing the planet, individuals & situations of the participants.  Small pieces of paper will be given to each person in the circle to write down a challenge or situation needing healing.  These notes will be placed in a bowl to be released & purified by water & earth.  The Prayer Chaplains will hold sacred space for the circle.  A breathing exercise will be followed by a 3-minute meditation.  We look forward to praying with you.
