Volunteers are reminded that Saturday February 15th 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM the mandatory safety class is being held. An annual class for members is required for MRPS to remain in compliance with CSX safetyregulations.
The make up date is Tuesday evening February 18, 6-9 PM Make plans to attend 1 of these dates.
By now, members should have gotten a schedule of optional classes being held at the Roundhouse. Members can sign up for them at the office or visit Signingenius.com
Several weeks ago the front facing vent window frames on the cab of 4070 were removed. They are made of bronze castings which were painted over many times. All the old paint and gunk needs to be removed and the slide mechanisms cleaned up. Our blasting media is too coarse to be used on bronze, so we will need a gentler method. We do have a Soda Blaster and medium for this, so if you don't mind getting dirty but getting but getting the satisfaction immediately this may be the job for you.
The replacement of the side panels on the cab is continuing. Any help volunteers can give is appreciated.
In the America car, there is still a tank in the crew room that needs to be removed. It has been loosened, but it will take several people to get it out of the car.
If the weather cooperates, several volunteers are needed to go out to the Amtrak kitchen car and retrieve the stainless steel panels needed for the America car.
Last Saturday, much of the tool room was cleared. We still need to move some some the shelving so demolition of the pad can begin.
We also need someone with some electrical skills to run 220 line to the crew room so we can use a stove for lunches. We have all the material just need to run the conduit lines and feed the wires and plug.
