ILNS champions the right to live independently and supports individuals in their pursuit of independence.
 
Our Vision 
The vision of ILNS is that all Nova Scotians with disabilities have the ability to live a full, independent life at home, work, and play within an inclusive community.

Independent Living Nova Scotia is accepting applicants for our Community Access Program!
New intake for classes starting February 4th, 2020!
Are you between the ages of 18-24?
Do you self-identify as a person with a disability?
Do you need support finding and keeping employment?
“CAP is designed to create community, build employability, and support each individual's independence goals. I also work 1-on-1 with every participant to help them craft their unique transition plan for after the program. Come see what CAP is all about!”

Community Access Program Includes:

  • Employment skills training
  • Recreation activities
  • Group-based workshops
  • Career exploration

Each session will take place from 11:30 am - 3:00 pm at the following locations:

*Wednesday Feb 26th, 2020
The Wooden Monkey- Alderney Landing Dartmouth
How to recruit and hire persons with disabilities and steps to make the hiring process more accessible.

*Thursday March 26th, 2020
The Cambridge Hotel and Suites Halifax - Brunswick Room
Tools and resources for planning with an accessibility lens in business.

*Monday April 27th, 2020
The Wooden Monkey- Alderney Landing Dartmouth
The steps needed to create an inclusive environment for employees and customers with disabilities.

These sessions are free and employers, employees, and advocates are encouraged to attend, however, space is limited.
Please pre-register by contacting Michelle at msayers@ilns.ca or calling 902-453-0004.

We will have CART and ASL interpreters at each session, and if you need other accommodations please let us know. Refreshments and lunch will be provided; please advise us of any dietary restrictions.

Boxing lessons for individuals with Parkinson's

Join boxing lessons every Wednesday afternoon from 12:15 pm to 1:30 pm at the Parkinson's Atlantic Canada office, 150 – 7071 Bayers Rd, Halifax.
