IEP Supports

The Specialized Services Department at HHS continues to help support students by:

  • Receiving information that your son/daughter needs support with their IEP via email or phone call
  • Staff meeting with all parties early in the semester to discuss their IEP and accommodations
  • Reviewing strategies and adding new strategies to a students tool box to support learning
  • Include your family in team meetings to discuss areas of need
  • Looking at various non-traditional programs that can support students in their learning – e.g. virtual learning, co-operative placements, SHSM, etc.
  • Utilizing the Homework Club to support learning.  Every day from 3:10 – 4:00 at HHS.
  • Meeting every Spring at an IPRC/Cae Conference to discuss your child’s courses and programming needs.
Taking your IEP to post-secondary!

You can take your IEP to post-secondary but you must make sure to research in advance how they can support you.

Here is a link to a great resource that is updated often with respect to documentation that is needed to support your IEP in post-secondary.  Please note that the school cannot send your IEP. The student needs to take a copy, preferably after you accept a schools offer, to the school or email a copy and then start the process.  Do not wait until September or the beginning of your experience at your College or University.  The earlier the better!
