Note from the Editor
Happy Friday <<First Name>>!
This might surprise you, but January was the first time I ever read Little Women, and let me just say I get it now. I understand why, for many, this book is a rite of passage, a coming-of-age read, and an unprecedented story of womanhood written in a time when that was uncommon to say the least. It was a joy, really, to spend the week post-holiday and pre-heading back to work (maybe the best reading week of the year?) getting to know the March sisters and allowing myself to get tangled in their sisterhood and complex relationship dynamics.
I also found it especially delightful to head to the theater to watch Greta Gerwig's film adaptation around the same time. Without giving away too much, I will say it was one of those movies that 10/10 friends I surveyed all said they'd go back and see again in theaters. That's a pretty impressive stat imho. (Also Florence Pugh! I'm obsessed.)
While my month of Little Women overload was a delight, I'm ready to get back to my roots in February. I'm excited to announce this month's GNI book pick (below!), which takes us head first into the tech world, where I spent many of the formative years of my career. A note: While we're still pausing our book club meetings (for now!), our team remains committed to creating an inclusive and accessible community and book club platform to discuss what we're reading.
That means we have some questions.
We're exploring a virtual book club option for February, but we'd love to know if that's something you'd be interested in joining. We made a survey so be sure to drop us a line here if you have thoughts on how you'd like to see that come to life!
Until next month,
Alisha Ramos, Founder at GNI
