Seriously, why isn't menopause celebrated? It's still a bit of a taboo subject, though that is finally changing.
One great example of this is the Menopause Cafe, with chapters popping up around the United Kingdom (and one here across the Pond). These groups exist for women and men to discuss menopause with no pre-set agenda, preferably over tea and cake (gluten-free for me, please).
Today I'm sharing my latest blog post opening the discussion about menopause. You'll also find a collection of a few other recent articles here.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on my Facebook page or right on the blog.

Menopause doesn’t have to be this way! Girls are taught what to expect at puberty and are proud to move into […] Read in browser »

Leaky gut and other health factors will cause people to react differently to the same foods. One of the important factors in food sensitivities is the health and diversity of your gut flora. One of the most important lessons I have learned about food sensitivities is that you can reduce your food sensitivities by simply […] Read in browser »

Men have thyroid problems, too! A significant proportion of men suffer from thyroid symptoms, and I believe many more men are going through life undiagnosed. About 20% of the general U.S. population has been diagnosed with thyroid dysfunction, and an estimated 20% more are walking around undiagnosed with these same conditions. Common male maladies such as […] Read in browser »

Millions of people in the United States take levothyroxine, a synthetic form of T4, the inactive thyroid hormone. In fact, levothyroxine is the #4 most prescribed medication in the U.S. The liver, gut, and other tissues into a form that the body’s cells can use must convert T4 into a usable, or “active,” form. This […] Read in browser »

70% (yes, seventy percent) of all people taking thyroid hormone replacement medication continue to suffer from thyroid symptoms! For good thyroid health, it’s important to have sufficient acid in your stomach. With all the TV commercials for antacids, it seems like excess stomach acid is a big problem for Americans. The opposite is actually true: acid reflux, heartburn, or GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disorder) is usually caused by too little hydrochloric acid being produced […] Read in browser »

Hypothyroidism, or low thyroid function, is a modern epidemic, especially among women. Most conventional medical doctors do insufficient testing, don’t ask enough questions about the patient, and are far too quick to prescribe synthetic thyroid hormone before they understand what is happening with a person’s biochemistry. Qualified functional wellness practitioners, such as myself, will discover […] Read in browser »

Hypothyroidism – low thyroid function – is the most common thyroid dysfunction in the U.S. About 40% of us, mostly women, are diagnosed with it and this number is growing every year. Millions more people go undiagnosed. Typical diagnosis doesn’t even test thyroid health directly, and standard “treatment” with medications only cover up symptoms and […] Read in browser »

In my previous article, I introduced visceral fat and why it’s the most hazardous form of fat to have in your body. So how did it get there, and most importantly, how do you get rid of it? Visceral fat: What causes it? While the amount of visceral fat you have is partly determined […] Read in browser »

Visceral Fat: deep, hidden fat with deep health consequences Can’t pinch an inch of belly fat? You may be a normal, healthy weight, but you could still have excess fat hiding deep inside you, surrounding your vital organs. Visceral fat can’t be seen, and even skinny people aren’t immune from accumulating too much of it. […] Read in browser »
