Dr. Kim Orth Joins The Scientific Advisory Council 
   
The Foundation is pleased to announce that 2003 BYI awardee Dr. Kim Orth has joined Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation's Scientific Advisory Council (SAC). The role of the SAC is to provide advice and review all of the Foundation's program and award winners to the Board of Directors, as well as recommend changes or new avenues for impactful funding. 

Beckman Young Investigator Selected as Program Chair for 2020 Welch Conference

Congratulations to 2003 BYI Xiaowei Zhuang, PhD for being selected as Program Chair for the 2020 Welch Conference on Chemical Research. The Conference Program will debut October 26-27, 2020 at the Marriott Marquis in Houston, Texas to discuss the topic of, "Frontiers Of Brain Science And Medicine."

Recently Awarded

Congratulations to 2019 BYI Jia Niu, PhD (Boston College), the recipient of a National Science Foundation CAREER Award for "Radical Cascade-Driven Polymerization and Depolymerization," in addition to the 2019 NIH Director's New Innovator Award for his research centered on creating precision functional macromolecules to address the pressing needs in biomedicine, materials and environmental sciences.


Congratulations also goes out to 2018 BYI Jean-Hubert Olivier, PhD the recipient of a National Science Foundation CAREER Award. Dr. Olivier is Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry at University Miami, Florida. His research focuses on "Molecular Tools to Tune the Structure-Function Properties of Nanoscale Objects by Reconfiguration of pi-Conjugated Superstructures."


Congratulations to 2019 BYI Wesley Legant, PhD (University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill), recipient of a NIH Director's New Innovation Award for "Connecting The Dots Between Single Molecule Dynamics and Cell Differentiation."
 
Recently Published

2006 BYI, Raymond Edward Schaak, PhD, and Co-Author 2019 Beckman Postdoctoral Fellow, Julie Fenton, PhD, were published in Science: "Rational construction of a scalable heterostructured nanorod megalibrary."


2017 AOB Postdoctoral Fellow Danielle Mai, PhD, published a new manuscript in Physical Review Materials: "Molecular anisotropy and rearrangement as mechanisms of toughness and extensibility in entangled physical gels."
