Join LELT Executive Director and Registered Maine Guide Matt Markot for a backcountry Nordic ski adventure at Loon Echo’s Intervale Preserve on Scribner’s Mills Road in Harrison. You’ll need to bring your own equipment and metal edged touring skis are recommended. Snow conditions permitting, the preserve offers fine opportunities for off-trail ski touring (mostly flat and suitable for intermediate skiers) and perhaps a side trip via snowmobile trial to neighboring Fluvial Brewing for a pint or two! Meet at the parking area on Scribner’s Mills Road at 10 am. Please RSVP to execdir@lelt.org prior to the event. The event will be rescheduled depending on snow conditions.

Where: Crooked River Forest - Intervale
Level of Difficulty: Moderate/Strenuous
Join Loon Echo, Portland Water District (PWD) and Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (MDIFW) staff members for a “partnerships” snowshoe hike. Guests will have an opportunity to learn from the experts that work to protect land, water, and wild communities in the northern Sebago Lake region. Meet at the Intervale parking area on Scribners Mill Road in Harrison. Layered clothing, water and snacks are encouraged. Snowshoes and/or traction devices will be required. Free, but registration required here.
When: Monday, March 2nd, 12:30pm - 1:15/1:30pm (and the first Monday of every month this year!)
Where: Pondicherry Park
Level of Difficulty: Easy
Join us for a walk in Pondicherry Park! Nothing fancy and no agenda- just a chance to get out on conserved land with LELT staff and meet new people. We'll decide on a route based on ability and interest level.

Maine Lakes Winter Carnival - Fishing Derby
Volunteer Opportunity: Join us on Saturday, February 15th for the Annual Junior Fishing Derby as part of the Maine Lakes Winter Carnival. LELT is helping Unc'l Lunkers run the fishing derby this year because getting our youth outside and teaching them outdoor skills helps cultivate the next generation of stewards. Join us! Need snowshoes? We've got you covered!
LELT is excited to announce that we have a new fleet of snowshoes and poles available for you to use (for free!). Thanks to support from the Onion Foundation, we have 6 pairs of snowshoes and poles for use at our winter hikes and walks. Just let us know you'd like to borrow a pair, and we'll have them ready to go for you.
