We realize many agents work as a part of a real estate team and we now have ability for Brokers to utilize this new team functionality in Matrix.

Matrix Teams perform for two primary functions and still incorporate the "work on behalf of" and "work as that other agent (in other words "impersonating").
 ·        Display of team name and team members on reports in Matrix.  List Agent, List Office and now Team Names are now visible on agent reports in Matrix.  In addition, you can click on the Team name and see the contact information on those team members.
 ·        Capturing team production for display on ranking reports.  Head and Office Brokers will now be able to search by agent, office, firm and team where applicable)

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS UPDATE
Forsyth County Erosion Control: WSFC Erosion Control is bringing local ordinances into compliance with state rule NCG01 per direction from the EPA and DMLR. Builders working on multiple lots within the same subdivision will no longer be treated as single lots in regards to erosion control plans and grading permits. Builders and Developers will now need an erosion control plan created by an engineer, surveyor, or architect and must purchase a grading permit when more than 20,000 square feet of dirt is disturbed. All active projects must be brought into compliance by July 1.
  • This policy has been sent off to the NCR and NCHBA lobbying team for detailed review, as it will result in exponential rise in cost and will be detrimental to housing affordability in our county. More information to come.

Forsyth County Changes to Active Space within a PRD: Forsyth County Planning has proposed a UDO text amendment that will change active open space requirements in PRDs. The changes include a formalization of the sketch plan review process. You can review the text amendments
here.

ELECTIONS 2020
With the 2020 primaries fast-approaching, make sure you have the complete information before you head to the polls. This information is also available at
ncrealtors.org/ncrealtorsvote.

ELECTION CALENDAR
  • February 7: Last day to register to vote to be eligible for the March 3 primary (if you miss this deadline, you can still register during one-stop early voting)
  • February 13 thru 29: One Stop Early Voting (check out the Early Voting section for more details)
  • February 25: Last day to request an absentee ballot by mail (check out the Absentee Voting section for more details)
  • March 3: Election Day
  • March 6: All absentee ballots must be received (must have been postmarked by March 3)
VOTER ID

Voters are not required to show photo ID for the March 2020 primary election. A December 31 federal district court blocked the implementation of the voter ID requirement from taking effect. It is possible that it will be reinstated for the November elections, so stay tuned.

For more information, visit
ncsbe.gov/Voter-ID

As of the end of the year,
more than 41,000 NC REALTORS® (91%) were registered to vote in North Carolina. While that is awesome, there are still roughly 4,000 who are not. The REALTOR® voice is important in every election so it is vital that we strive for 100%. You have 3 options to register to vote in the March 3 primary:
  1. You can mail in this form
  2. You can register in person at your county Board of Elections office
  3. You can register to vote in-person at an Early Voting site beginning February 13

EARLY VOTING

Early voting will convene at sites across the state on Thursday, February 13 and will remain open until Saturday, February 29. Each county has set different hours for their respective early voting sites, so make sure you check their information before you go. Also, if you are not registered to vote or need to make changes to your registration, you can do that at the early voting sites.

Here is a full list of
Early Voting sites by county with their hours of operation.

MARCH 3 PRIMARY INFORMATION

If you decide to wait until March 3 to cast your ballot, make sure to check your polling location, as it may have changed since the last election. You can see your polling place and your sample ballot by viewing your
 voter record.

NC REALTORS® PAC Supported Candidates

The NC REALTORS® PAC Trustees are supporting multiple candidates in state-level races (NC House and Senate) during this year’s elections due to their support of REALTOR® issues. You can view a complete list of those receiving support
here. Please note, you must be logged into the website to view this list.

NEW AT WSRAR
BYOB - Book and brown bag lunch.

This is the book and a review by one of my friends:

Our team is again reading “l Will Teach You to Be Rich: No Guilt. No Excuses. No BS. Just a 6-Week Program That Works.”

It’s one of my favorites on personal finance and for the next few weeks I’ll be sharing my favorite parts here in case anyone could benefit.

********
4 Things People Do Wrong Regarding Personal Finance

1. Don’t track spending
2. Spend more than we realize or admit
3. Debate minutiae about interest rates and hot stocks
4. Listen to friends or parents and TV talking heads instead of reading a few good personal finance books.

Most of us don’t need financial advisors. We need to set up accounts in solid banks, automate our day-to-day and manage our money. We need to know about a few things to invest in and let our money grow for 30 years.

The single most important thing you can do when investing is start early.

“I can’t save $20 a week!”
“I can hardly afford this box I live in.”

Avoid people with a victim mentality and people who think it’s elitist to save or invest. Even a small amount will get you ahead. Cynics don’t want results. They’re stuck in a prison of their own mind.

Stop worrying about investing and saving perfectly. Just start and accept you will make mistakes.

Tomorrow: Are you playing offense or defense with your debt?

Karin Head will moderate the discuss.

Didn’t read the book.  Come anyway. Email ahobbs@wsrar.com if you plan to join us!
