A grateful thanks to the Eugene Schmuck Foundation

Last fall, Rinehart Clinic received a generous donation from the Eugene Schmuck Foundation that has allowed us to purchase much-needed equipment and supplies for the clinic and pharmacy.

The foundation's contribution will help our medical teams with their work, but more importantly, it will allow us to offer our patients a better and more comfortable experience.

We are grateful to the Eugene Schmuck Foundation for their ongoing support of Rinehart Clinic, and for the good work they do throughout the North County community.

Inset: an example of the improvements made possible by the Schmuck Foundation's donation – a new "vein light" that makes it easier for our MAs and nurses to easily see veins on patients who might have small, deep, or collapsed veins for whom blood draws can be challenging.

Inside Rinehart Clinic:  Meet our Wellness Navigator

Alisa Garcia, Rinehart Clinic's Wellness NavigatorWhen Rinehart Clinic received expanded funding earlier this year through a generous grant from Columbia Pacific Coordinated Care Organization, we were able to add a new Wellness Navigator position to the team to coordinate our Community Wellness classes.

You may recognize our new Wellness Navigator, Alisa Garcia. She has worked at Rinehart Clinic for several years, most recently as our Panel Coordinator. In that role, she monitored patient records for health conditions and general health maintenance and coordinated with the care team to help them collaborate on the care needed when a patient came in for an appointment. Through that coordination role, Alisa had already been involved in some aspects of the wellness program, and has a strong interest in seeing people be successful in their health goals.

Alisa is a natural organizer, a quality that will serve her well in this role. In addition to organizing the logistics for all of our classes, she coordinates the prescriptions for physical activity program, working with our primary care team. She also works directly with our patients who receive these prescriptions to make sure they have the support they need to pursue their health goals. She can meet with them here at the clinic, or out in the community.

She will also work with our community grant partners to help manage the details associated with their involvement in the program. Our grant partners include Manzanita Farmers Market, Manzanita Grocery & Deli (the Little Apple), Moon River Farm, and North County Recreation District

Rinehart Clinic's Community Wellness classes kicked off in January with a new QiGong class, and more classes are planned throughout the year. (Two are featured in this edition of the newsletter: our monthly Mindfulness Meditation classes, and our new six-week "Food for Thought" class that starts February 27.)

The Community Wellness grant also includes funding for staff wellness, and Alisa will work with a group of interested staff to develop a program for the whole Rinehart Clinic team.

Alisa says "Health and wellness have always been important to me and it's kind of a dream job that now I get to help other people on their wellness journey."

Please join us in welcoming Alisa to her new role as Wellness Navigator for Rinehart Clinic.
