FOCUSING on God's Provision
& Open Doors

(from Bay)

As mentioned in our last newsletter, Peg and I just completed our annual Focus board meeting, with 9 of our 10 board members attending. It was a blessed time of fellowship, worship, and celebrating what God has done over the past decade, while looking ahead to what He might have in store for the next 10 years. As always, Peg put together an impressive video presentation of 2010-2019, focusing heavily on this past year (if you didn't see it and want to now, click on this link). We chose the theme of “Now What?” for this new period of ministry, challenging each other to ask “Now What” in excitement and  expectation of God’s open doors, provision,  and blessing in Focus—not a whining and complaining question of any “roadblocks or struggles” we might experience!

What a joy to begin experiencing some of God’s upcoming blessings, as I (Bay) traveled to Houston with my good friend, Joe Odhiambo (20 Guinness world records in spinning and dribbling!), for a Christian school chapel where two sons of our dear friends and incredible supporters attend. I truly sensed the Spirit of God take over as I spoke to the students, after Joe’s show, challenging them to avoid the “traps of the world” that the enemy throws their way, and to stand firm as strong witnesses for their King! That afternoon was spent with very special new friends we met, who have a 13 yr old son who LOVES basketball. Joe spent some invaluable one on one instruction time with Noah, and I was able to encourage him with some devotional books and the importance of playing ALL OUT for Jesus! Fortunately, he has an amazing mom and dad, who are raising him to love Jesus, and put Him first in his life!

That evening, Joe did a show for their entire church (all the way to a 95 yr old—see the picture of the woman in the wheel chair spinning a ball!:), and then I spoke to all the teens on “Winners and Losers”. The teens had invited lost friends to attend that evening to see Joe, and hear from “an old NBA has-been”, and 5 of them made professions of faith in Christ when I led in a salvation prayer at the end! Whether it’s 5, 50, or 500 decisions being made at an event, I ALWAYS find myself amazed that God allows us to “get in on” all of this!

I suppose the thing that humbled and blessed me the most on this trip, was how God encouraged and blessed me with His faithfulness in an area He had convicted me to begin praying this new year. As we have begun 2020, I truly sensed God leading me to simply wait on Him to open the doors He wants us to go through, instead of somehow “beating the bushes”, or trying to “get our foot in the door” somewhere new. Since beginning to pray this direction, and just allow Him to give us favor where HE wants us, we have experienced a pretty much full schedule for this coming year, and even into 2021! And now, on this trip, we have already seen possible open doors and requests for events in Honduras, Zambia, Malawi, Rwanda, India, and back in Texas! How GREAT and FAITHFUL is our God??!!

I’m writing this newsletter on the plane as I'm headed home, and find myself truly astounded at God’s goodness and provision! And each of you, who participate in prayer and financial giving, play a powerful and vital role in “sending us out”! What a joy it has been to let some of these places know that we are able to go ANYWHERE God opens doors, because of our generous and faithful supporters!! We are SO honored to “TEAM” with you!!

May we all continue to brag on Jesus, and expectantly say and pray “NOW WHAT”?!!
