The Power of Prayer

Most of us have an awareness that prayer is a vital component in connecting to Spirit/God/Universe; however, what exactly is prayer? What does prayer do and how does prayer help us in life? Are any types of prayer better or more effective than others? What are Unity's teachings about prayer?

These are just a few of the questions regarding prayer that we'll be exploring this Sunday. So, come join us and bring your friends as we enter into the powerful practice of Prayer and how the use of prayer can make a profound difference in your life! Yes!!

See you Sunday!!

Unity Sunday School Lessons

We have groups for kids 3, 4, & 5 years old, kids 6, 7, 8, & 9 years old, and Uniteens. We teach the children’s version of the Unity Principles in our lessons.

Basic Unity Principles:

1. God is good and active in everything, everywhere.

2. I am naturally good because God’s Divinity is in me and in everyone.

3. I create my experiences by what I choose to think and what I feel and believe.

4. Through affirmative prayer and meditation, I connect with God and bring out the good in my life.

5. I do and give my best by living the Truth I know. I make a difference!

Unity Principles for children:

1. My “Still, Small Voice” inside me is good and always with me. It tells me to use my manners and be polite and kind. It tells me how I am felling and reassures me.

2. I am good and all others are too. I love me and other people love me for who I am.

3. I create my life by making choices. I make choices and decisions that are good for me.

4. I connect to my “Still, Small Voice” to help me. I listen. I breathe. I have quiet time.

5. I do my best. I try hard. I take risks. I try new things.

Here's What's Happening

Next StoryZime is Wednesday, Feb. 19th, 6:30pm, in the Rumi Room

Metaphysics 1B, Session 3
Are there really two selves? You are you and you will always be you. But, you also a sum total of all your changing opinions about you. Jesus taught that we must “deny ourselves and follow…” Who is that self that Jesus asks us to deny? We will unravel all and all about the selves that we are in this interesting discussion on Thursday, Feb. 6th, at 6pm with Rev. Jim as facilitator.

Metaphysics 1B, Session 4
Unity views resurrection as an ongoing process. We also see salvation as a process, rather than a state of “having it made.”  Jesus saves is a correct statement, metaphysically explained, as is being “saved from hell.” Hell is a biblical symbol. We will discuss this concept and also show where the church invented hell as a place in order to threaten and control. Do you want to explore all this shades of this mythical place?

Metaphysics 1B, Session 5
A key concept in Unity teachings are the denials and affirmations.  Thoughts are things; they occupy space in the mental field. A healthy state of mind is attained and continued when the thinker lets go of old thoughts and takes on the new. Finally, we will take a look at faith – the perceiving power of mind linked with a power to shape substance.
