Professional Support

Early Years to Primary School Network
 
We invite early years educators and early years primary teachers, to join us for our first meeting in 2020. This network meets once a term in a local kindergarten or primary school venue and provides you with an ideal to build knowledge and relationships that support wellbeing and professional development.

At this meeting we will be discussing positive partnerships between early childhood educators and early years primary is essential to ensuring a families smooth transition.

Date: Thursday 12 March
Time: 5.30pm - 7pm

Aboriginal Heritage Walk 

This fascinating tour will introduce you to the ancestral lands of the Koolin nation and teach you about Aboriginal traditions. You won’t have to worry about getting lost, as an Aboriginal guide will accompany you around Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Garden.

Enjoy learning about indigenous plants and trees, and their uses for food and medicine. It’ll be a fascinating cultural experience as you’ll be part of a traditional smoking ceremony, and also get to sample lemon myrtle tea.

Teaching Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture

Are you looking for information to increase knowledge on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures? The Darebin City Council website contains a wealth of information that you can access for free.  

 
State Government Program: Best Start and Aboriginal Best Start

Best Start is an early years initiative to support families and caregivers to provide the best possible environment, experiences and care for children from birth to age eight.

The program focuses on children experiencing vulnerability and all Aboriginal children.
