February 2020 already! It seems no time at all since the Volonteurope conference in Brussels. January was a busy month and I want to update you on the activities in which I have been participating as Volonteurope President and on your behalf. We had the final meeting of our + CARE project, working largely on volunteer management issues for the EU Aid Volunteers initiative now to be incorporated into the European Solidarity Corps. BE PART OF FRINGE FESTIVAL...
With the conference on the Future of Europe starting in May we’re delighted to be helping lead a new ‘fringe’ festival of democracy. We've joined the working group of #Europefuturefringe, a new initiative inspired by Edinburgh’s world-famous Fringe Festival which will bring together events across Europe. The idea was first mentioned at our annual conference in November and has since taken off with organisations across civil society getting involved. We’d love you to get involved too. BLOG: ACTION PLAN LAUNCHED...
Oonagh and I attended the final conference of a two-year Erasmus+ project, BE PART–FEEL YOUR PART. The initiative aimed to increase the political and social participation of young people, especially those at risk of social exclusion, on local, regional, national and European levels. The partners engaged with youth workers, volunteers, trainers and others, to support young people’s political and social participation as active citizens in their communities. Read more HERE.
