Her multifaceted talent is on display on her 2019 sophomore album, Intuition: Songs From the Minds of Women, on which she breathes new life into works by women artists such as smooth-jazz singer Sade, bluesy folk songstress Tracy Chapman and experimental pop star Kate Bush. Possessing a voice that Downbeat magazine calls “rich as coffee, fluid as mercury,” Olatuja returns to the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts, following a 2016 performance with jazz pianist Billy Childs.

We can either choose to risk icy sidewalks without protection, or we can choose to wear Yaktrax in the supermarket with the concrete floors. Either way, someone’s gonna slip and fall. #btv

Dave's Corner 💭
We're having our carpet replaced with bamboo because our dog's destroyed it (in fact we wanted to get hardwood, but hardwood can't be nailed into concrete, and our house sits on a concrete slab). We wanted to shop local, but the prices were $1000+ over what the big box stores offered. I will buy local when the prices are a little higher, but I have my limits. I'm surprised some of these stores survive. More power to them though!

- Transportation and Parking Improvement Request
Still waiting on pedestrian-activated signal at foot of pathway to UVMMC from East Ave, at Bilodeau Ct. In the past, we were told location not eligible for funding because there aren't sidewalks on both side of East Ave. However, there are now two pedestrian-activated signals on Spear St, with no sidewalk on the east side of Spear.
Is there another reason why this request has been held up? Residents have provided ample examples of problems, including injuries to pedestrians. Nighttime drivers still don't stop unless we walk into the street and wave down the cars, hoping they stop.
So what can now be the excuse for not putting this intersection on the list for a pedestrian activated signal? Thanks.

Random Burlingtonian Quote of the Day 📝
To regiment artists, to make them servants of some particular cause does violence to the very springs of artistic creation. But it does more than that. It betrays the very cause of a better future it would serve, for in its subjugation of the individuality of the artist it annihilates the source of that which is genuinely new. Where the regimentation is successful, it would cause the future to be but a rearrangement of the past.
—John Dewey
