Marty's Message: Enrollment Update

You have probably heard the buzz about positive enrollment projections for the fall. Higher enrollment is welcome news for our campus; however, we all must be prepared for the influx of new students.

Our most recent funnel report (year-over-year recruitment data) shows first-year student  numbers are up 52% in applications (+1,694), up 51% in total admits (+1,281), and up 36% in confirmations (+303). UW-Stevens Point is now preparing for as many as 1,800 new students in fall 2020, which is 550 more than enrolled this past fall.

These positive enrollment numbers have come from a lot of hard work by a lot of people. Over the past year, UWSP implemented a new enrollment management tool, hired a new enrollment manager and revamped its recruitment team and hired new recruiters. The university has made changes to its scholarship programs toward the recruitment of new students, and we now have the "Discover Your Purpose" brand.

Within the College of Professional Studies, we have engaged our departments in the recruitment process like never before. Our student success and advising staff, our associate deans and many of our faculty have been highly involved in recruitment efforts throughout Wisconsin. In December, we held a highly interactive Health and Wellness ViewPoint and are planning a similar one in Education and Business this spring. Today, we participated in the first ever Admitted Student Day as Prof. Kym Buchanan (SOE) presented a sample class titled "Finding and Protecting Your Happiness."

We hope all the future Pointers are able to find and protect their happiness when they arrive in the fall!
