Are you considering taking the new APMP Practitioner exam?  Sixfold have launched a flexible approach to help you prepare.

The APMP has recently introduced a new examination format for the Practitioner qualification.  You may remember that to pass Foundation level, you had to demonstrate awareness of 23 competencies.  To pass Practitioner Level you must demonstrate your ability to apply these and some new competencies.

The new exam is not a straightforward multiple-choice test.  It differs significantly from the format of the Foundation exam.  It seeks to test both your knowledge and your ability to apply it.  Therefore, to pass the Practitioner exam you will need three things:

  1. To know how to best respond to the new (non-intuitive) exam question format.
  2. To be very familiar with the terminology and ‘best practice’ of the APMP BOK and to know what has changed since you sat the Foundation exam.
  3. To have a minimum of 3 years’ qualifying experience in bidding and tendering in the real world.

We have designed a flexible training approach to help you with the first and second of these (sorry - nothing we can do about the third).  You can choose to do one or two days of a two-day course depending on your needs.  You can even split the two days over a few weeks or months if you wish.

The first (optional) day is a refresher of the APMP best practice process and terminology.  We have designed it to be a comprehensive review of the Foundation material and changes to the BOK.  It concentrates on those areas you need to be confident in for the Practitioner examination.  It is particularly relevant for anyone who has not sat the Foundation examination recently or whose organisation does not use a standard APMP approach.

The second day concentrates on preparing you for the Practitioner examination and includes several sample questions which we will tackle as a group.  If you are ready, you will then sit the examination in the afternoon.  The examination is “Open Book”.  You will be able to bring the documentation that you might need with you into the examination.

For a bid professional, this course and its accreditation is the most effective way in which you can further your career in the bidding and tendering industry.  Research shows that APMP accredited Practitioners earn 35% more than their peers.  This is not just because of the letters after their names; it is because their contribution to the business objectives is 35% more!  It is for this reason that companies are now seeking APMP Practitioner accreditation as a prerequisite for recruiting people to run their bids.

We are particularly keen to assist independent contractors and small business members gain these qualifications.  We can be flexible on charges for you if you fit the bill.  If you think we might be able to help, please call us on 01227 860375.  We have our first course planned for 17th and 18th March in Manchester.  If you would like to join us, we can give a substantive discount.  Alternatively, please make contact on 01227 860375 and we will book you in to the next available course (or click here for course dates).
