Thursday, February 13 - World Chess Hall of Fame - Composer Series : Bulgarian Sketches - 7-8p - Join us for a special presentation of works for cello and piano by Bulgarian composers. As featured on the recently released CD, "Bulgarian Sketches," these little-known pieces are inspired by Bulgaria’s rich folk vocal and instrumental music traditions. Marta Simidtchieva is currently the Professor of Cello at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. An avid advocate for contemporary music, including the music of composers from her native Bulgaria, Marta released her album, "Bulgarian Sketches" in 2018. The CD received a silver medal for Outstanding Achievement for a New Release by the 2019 Global Music Awards. The CD was also recorded with dynamic pianist Kris Pineda. Cathedral Concerts announces their 2019 - 2020 season - Saint Louis Cathedral Concerts, an independent nonprofit that brings sacred and classical music to St. Louis from world-class musicians, releases its concert lineup for the 27th season. The 2019-2020 season kicks off Monday, July 29th at 8:00pm, and continues through Friday, April 21st, 2020.
