Trees Atlanta Monthly News Updates

Happy Valentine's Day! On this special day, we're celebrating our one true love: trees. So much so, that you might catch us hugging them. Like Brian here, our Urban Forestry Director.

If you love trees and want to help some grow, check out our three opportunities below for you to get free trees. And speaking of growth, we have almost reached 10,000 followers on Instagram! Help us get there by giving us a quick follow @treesatlanta

Free Trees for Metro Atlanta

Have you heard of our Front Yard Tree Program? Through partnerships with the City of Atlanta, Brookhaven, Chamblee, and Sandy Springs, residents can get up to 3 trees planted in their yard for free (1 tree for Chamblee residents)! All you have to do is select from a list of fabulous trees (including white oak, river birch, and several others) and submit a request, and we'll take care of the planting.

Celebrate Georgia Arbor Day With a Free Seedling

Georgia Arbor Day is a holiday dedicated to the trees across our state that work to clean our air, provide homes for wildlife, regulate temperatures, and do so much more. While National Arbor Day is held in April, it is too warm then to plant trees in Georgia (we plant our trees from October - March). To celebrate our very own Arbor Day on February 21, we're giving away free seedlings! Stop by our Kendeda Center anytime between 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM on Friday, February 21 to select from the following seedlings: paw paw, red maple, cherrybark oak, dogwood, and redbud.

Join Us at Canopy Conference and Take a Tree Home

Canopy Conference is less than a week away and we cannot wait to hear from climate scientists, tree experts, and community officials to discuss how we can fight climate change locally with urban forests. We'd love for you to take part in these conversations, as the future of our city depends on all of us. Here are some of the many benefits you'll receive from registering:
  • Refreshments and morning coffee (of course!)
  • A locally-sourced lunch
  • Workshops, presentations, and networking
  • CEUs: 6.0 ISA hours; GA PLA (ASLA) certificate
  • A free tree seedling
