In January, 20 theatre majors from UNW spent one week in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for the 52nd Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) Region V. Seven students, along with their scene partners, competed for the Irene Ryan Scholarship; theatre major Jonah Smith advanced to semifinals for the competition. Theatre major D'lorah Roberts lead a team of UNW stage technicians in the Stage Crew Showdown (UNW's first appearance in the competition). Theatre major Sarah Christenson was selected to participate in the Musical Theatre Dance Intensive where she, along with other participants from the seven-state region, performed in a cabaret toward the end of the week. Director and Professor of Theatre, Jennifer Hunter, conducted a workshop focusing on creating theatre for children while adjunct professor, Iris Dodge, lead a workshop teaching future stage managers the importance of a prep week.
