Welcome back to Term One, 2020. We hope you have all had an amazing summer break and are ready for a positive year of growing our learners. We are very excited to be working alongside you and your children this year.
Te Mihi community have four engaging learning spaces for your children to learn and grow this year. In our teaching and learning spaces we would like to welcome Mrs. Sonia Fletcher in Room 5, Mrs. Jessica Wilson in Room 6, Mrs. Clara Loughin in Room 8 and Mrs. Melissa Issacson in Room 7. Mrs Tash Forrest is the team leader of Te Mihi.
Upcoming Events
We are having a 'Meet The Teachers' afternoon on Thursday, February 13, from 4:30-6 p.m. at school. Our classrooms will be open for you to come along and meet the teachers. Each teacher will present a slideshow at 4.30, 5 and 5.30 highlighting some of the great things that are happening in their teams, classroom and here at Wairakei Primary School this term. We look forward to seeing you there.

Online newsletter system
As a school we have moved away from paper and all notices are distributed through this online system. These include important dates, trips, camps and event newsletters.

Inquiry Learning
Our learning focus this term is looking at us as learners. We have called this 'Inside Out'. We will be looking at:
- identifying learning goals
- setting goals for ourselves
- challenging ourselves
- making positive choices
- recognising our emotions
- how we deal with these emotions
- identify triggers
We will be encouraging and providing our students with opportunities to challenge themselves in a variety of different settings and situations.
