14 OSSA Long Track skaters represented Ontario at the Canadian Youth Long Track Championships in Red Deer, AB this weekend.
Ontario brought home 10 medals and many great racing experiences!
Renata Kenzie - Gold in 1500m, Silver in 7 lap event,
Sarah Murray - Gold in 300m, Bronze in 500m
Brielle Durham - Bronze in 7 lap event, Silver in 500m and 1500m
Boys 12-13 Team Pursuit (David Brown, Alex Wood, Bradley Chambers) - Silver

Long Track World Cup 5 - Calgary
|
|
|
At World Cup #5 in Calgary this weekend, Ivanie Blondin broke the Canadian Women's 1500m record with a time of 1:51.767 and claimed Silver!
In the 5000m, Jordan Belchos skated a personal best of 6:13.115 and finished 5th in the Men's A Division.
Hayden Mayeur made his World Cup debut in the Men's B Division 5000m.

Short Track World Cup - Germany

|
Alphonse Ouimette (St. Lawrence Rapids) made his World Cup debut this weekend in Germany.
Alphonse was a member of the Mixed Gender Relay and skated the 1500m.
Congratulations to Alphonse for representing Canada on the International Short Track racing stage!

Short Track Canada Cup 2 Results

|
|
11 OSSA skaters raced at Short Track Canada Cup 2 in Sherbrooke this weekend. Top results include Renee Steenge placing 1st in the 1500m and 2nd in the 500m. Renee finished 2nd overall!
Arye Richards qualified to every A final and finished 4th overall.

Special Olympics Canada Winter Games

the Special Olympics Canada 2020 Winter Games are being held in Thunder Bay Ontario from Feb 25-29, 2020.
We have 15 skaters representing Ontario:

Nagano Skate Camp in Waterloo

Nagano Skate is coming back to RIM Park in Waterloo on Aug 10-14, 2020!
This will be an all-day camp for skaters aged 8-22 with at least 1 year of racing experience. Camp will run for 5 days (Monday-Friday).

Beatrice Noble Memorial Speedskating Scholarship
|
|
|
The Buffalo Speedskating Club is pleased to announce that applications are being accepted for the 3rd annual Beatrice Noble Memorial Speedskating Scholarship, which recognizes young speed skaters living with a chronic medical condition. Speed skaters up to age 18 in the US and Canada who are living with a chronic medical condition are eligible to apply.
There will be up to (3) $1,000 USD scholarships awarded in 2020. The scholarships will be used to pay for costs directly related to the recipient's participation in the sport of speedskating.
