Please Pray
for Embracing Age…

With Valentines' Day upon us again, everyone's talking about love. Few speak about a love that gives selflessly, though. Yet 1 John 4:19 says, "We love because He first loved us."

It's that simple. Everything we do should flow out of the selfless love we receive from God; love that enables us to love back. Because we're loved, we know we're cared for allowing us to think beyond our own wants and needs and love God through our love of others.

Without God's love, we simply couldn't love in such a way.

Because of the love we receive from God, Embracing Age "has a heart" to love the elderly residents of care homes in this nation. It's out of this love that our vision is being shaped and grown. And it's from the love placed in your heart from the Father that you commit to pray for us regularly.

Let's all take time this month to reflect on the love we receive from God, and ask ourselves how we could love all-the-more because of it.

Answered Prayers from January...

  • We asked you to pray for Tina’s journey up to Mirfield in Yorkshire on January 18th. She had the best journey possible - all connections were easy and ran smoothly. On the journey home her train was cancelled which actually enabled her to get an earlier train. Most importantly, the training itself went very well.

  • We asked you to pray for the training on the Isle of Wight on January 25th, and particularly that lots of people would come. We had about 20 people in the end, which is a very large group for training. God is good!

February Prayer Pointers...

  • We'll be interviewing for the Isle of Wight Co-ordinator role in a few days' time on February 14th. Please pray that we'll have clear direction from God's Spirit on this.

  • On February 11th, Tina trained new volunteers for a new Care Home Friends project in East Molesey being championed by one of our trustees, Tim Blair. Though this has taken place already, do pray that the seed planted will grow into something bearing much fruit within East Molesey going forwards.

  • Tina will also train more volunteers for the project in Rowlands Castle on February 15th, and will be training a group in Richmond on February 19th. Please pray over the outcome of these training sessions - again for fruit to grow as volunteers are equipped and envisioned, and for many lives of care home residents to be touched going forwards.

  • On March 4th we have the culmination of our intergenerational drama project, 'Over the Rainbow'. Pupils from a local secondary school will be performing to residents at a local care home a drama/musical based on the lives of the residents. The drama was written by Wendy, our Volunteers' Co-ordinator, after pupils spent time with the residents listening to their life stories. We have seen God’s hand on this project, blessing it at every stage and clearing potential obstacles in our path. Please pray that the performance will go smoothly, that pupils will remember their lines and that the residents will really benefit from it.

  • Do continue to pray for the Care Home Friends projects in Liverpool, Billinghurst, Rowlands Castle and Mirfield as they get going. Pray that they will have a real sense of God’s hand helping them and preparing the way.

  • This year we're celebrating our 5th Birthday and will be holding some events to mark the occasion. Please pray for wisdom as we plan these, and for open doors and opportunities in regard to venues. We are hoping to hold one event at a local theatre and another as a garden party or afternoon tea.

  • Finally, we’re still in need of a treasurer so please do continue to pray for God’s provision here.

As you spend time with the Lord, praying and seeking him both over the requests we have made and in other matters in your lives this month, we make Paul's final greeting to the church in Corinth our prayer for each one of you:

"May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all," (2 Corinthians 13:14).

Thank you for continuing to support us!

“Now, our God,
hear the prayers
and petitions
of your servant."

Daniel 9:17
