ACTION ALERT

Ask your Representative
to add their name to the
Pocan - Dingell letter.

In 2012, the United Nations raised the alarm: if the situation did not improve, Gaza would be unlivable by 2020. Just six weeks into 2020, the humanitarian crisis has reached a tipping point as military interventions, limited movement, financial instability, and deteriorating infrastructure have left Gazans with little hope for a peaceful and secure future. The depletion of Gaza’s only local source of potable water has made drinking water a serious health threat, with the World Health Organization declaring 97% of Gaza’s aquifer unfit for human consumption. Unemployment has skyrocketed in recent years to 47% of the population, and over 69% among Gazan youth.

Given these life-threatening realities for individuals trapped in Gaza as well as the harmful impacts of the Trump Administration’s “Peace to Prosperity” proposal, the Administration can and must do more to improve the dire situation for individuals living there.

Ask your Representative to add their name to the Pocan - Dingell letter.

The Office of Public Witness, along with our partners in Churches for Middle East Peace, strongly supports a Congressional letter to Secretary Pompeo, organized by Reps. Pocan and Dingell, which expresses concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and urges the Administration to alleviate the dire conditions by restoring all humanitarian aid. Please ask your Representative to join this letter that addresses the crisis in Gaza by restoring desperately needed assistance and pursuing a solution to ending the blockade policy. This letter closes on Friday, February 14, so please reach out to your Representative today!

Contact your Representative now and encourage them to sign this critical letter.

It is imperative that Congress asserts its role in ensuring U.S. policy contributes to a just future for both Israelis and Palestinians. Alleviating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is a necessary step in this direction.
