COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS

We had hoped to share the latest news from our presentation on Building an Inclusive Maker Community at SXSW EDU, but all SXSW conferences and festivals were cancelled. Similarly, the ExCITe Center is following the policies of Drexel University and suspending in-person operations. We have canceled all tours and events until further notice. You can find out more about Drexel's preventative measures on their COVID-19 Response website
 

ILLEST LAB

SXSW may be cancelled, but that won't stop us from sharing information on the new Informal Learning and Linking Engineering Sciences and Technology Lab.  The ILLEST Lab is building a safe, inclusive STEAM environment that supports the lifelong pursuit of knowledge and employment. Learn more on the

Digital Divide & Privilege of On-line Learning

As the COVID-19 pandemic is forcing schools to pivot to online education, the reality of the digital divide is being highlighted. Dr. Youngmoo Kim, was recently featured on 6ABC to discuss how the digital divide affects online learning and expanded upon his thoughts in a recent blog post.

Young Dragons Summer STEAM
 
Young Dragons: Summer STEAM

Applications are now open for our Young Dragons: Summer STEAM program. Young Dragons is a six-week STEAM camp for middle school students in the West Philadelphia Promise Zone, developed in partnership with The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation with additional support from West Philadelphia Promise Neighborhood. Weekly STEAM activities run from June 22nd through July 30th. Students must be residents or attend a school within the Promise Zone to apply.
 

14th Annual Summer Music Technology Program

Donā€™t forget about our annual Summer Music Technology (SMT) camp for high school students, August 10-14. SMT is an innovative experience using music to motivate interest in science technology and engineering. Accepted students participate at no cost. Applications are due by April 3rd!
