MOD Pizza Day Thursday, February 20


Save the Date for a MOD PIzza Day! All day Thursday, February 20 at the Redmond Ridge MOD Pizza, show this flyer on your mobile device, or print and bring in a copy, and 20% of your food and drink purchase will be donated to our PTSA to support our school! (Taxes, gift cards and retail sales are excluded from this donation.)  You can also mention the Evergreen PTSA Fundraiser at checkout.

This fundraiser is valid only on Thursday, February 20 exclusively at the Redmond Ridge location (near Novelty Hill QFC), for dine-in, carry out or phone orders. (Online orders are not eligible.)   Grab some friends and make some plans to head out to MOD Pizza to support our PTSA!

PTSA Board is Seeking New Members for 2020-2021


Serving on the PTSA is a great way to connect with your student's school and community. We are looking for volunteers to fill positions on Evergreen's PTSA Board of Directors for next school year, 2020-2021. We are looking for passionate and committed parents of 6th, 7th and 8th graders. This will help us create a diverse, inclusive and strong board to serve the school community.

Your PTSA Needs You


We are looking for a few positions to round up your PTSA and deliver the best outcomes for our students and staff.
  • Communication Chairs: Our VP of Communications is looking for a few chairs to help manage communication from the PTSA to the EMS community:
    • Webmaster - responsible for managing PTSA website.
    • SharePoint Manager: responsible for managing PTSA Board sharepoint, including user accounts, internal email system, and one drive storage.
    • Social Media Co-Chair: responsible for sending timely information onto PTSA FB group and moderating parents' feedback.
      Please contact Communications if you are interested.
  • VP Advocacy - Focuses on legislative issues related to or affecting our students, staff, school, and district. Attends monthly board meetings. Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator if you are interested!

Tickets on Sale Now for Ready Player Wonderland


Order your tickets now to see this year’s Student Theater production of Ready, Player, Wonderland! Support your EMS friends as they perform live, onstage at Redmond High School’s Performing Arts Center. There will be two shows on March 21 at 2:00 and 7:00 pm. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased here online.
 

Reflections Update


The Evergreen artists rock!

We have three pieces currently advanced to state level competition and three other artworks will be displayed at LWPTSA Council Founders' Day Luncheon on February 28.

Math Club Update


Congratulations to the 64 Evergreen Math Team members who competed at the Math Is Cool Middle School Championship at Liberty High School on Friday, February 7!
 
We had some terrific results! The 6th grade team placed 2nd  (Alex Chen placed 1st, and Boya Zhang placed 5th).
 
The 7th grade team placed 1st and took 6 of the top 7 individual awards for Algebra: Alan Duan placed 1st. Alon Ragoler placed 2nd. Ethan Li placed 3rd. Reese Long placed 4th. Advaith Vankamamidi placed 5th. Elliott Kaiser placed 7th. And the 8th grade team placed 7th.
 
As a result of their strong performance, the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade teams have each been invited to send a team of four students to compete at the Masters state-level competition in April.  The students with the highest individual scores have been selected to represent Evergreen. Good luck to the teams at Math Is Cool Masters!

News from School, ASB and Community


Evergreen's Battle of the Books - February 19 - need more volunteers

Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program for students in 3rd through 12th grades. Students read books and come together, usually in groups, to demonstrate their abilities and to test their knowledge of the books they have read.
 
Mr. Olson, EMS Librarian, needs two more parent volunteers to make this event run smoothly. If you are available to assist with the Battle of the Books competition, please contact Mr. Olson.  

 
When: Wednesday, February 19, 1:30 pm
Where: EMS Library 

For volunteers, please try to come earlier as the parking would be difficult at 1:30 PM. 


LWPTSA Brown Bag Lunch: College and Career Readiness - February 20

Brown Bag Lunches are short presentations and discussions on topics of interest to all community members, from noon – 1 pm on select Thursdays at the LWSD Resource Center (Redmond Town Center). LWPTSA Special Education Fair - February 25

Come check out vendors offering after school, summer, and other recreational activities and services to students on IEPs, 504s and IHPs, and their families. Children welcome. Persons with disabilities who anticipate needing accommodations, those who need an interpreter or who have questions about access may email us at specialeducation@lwptsa.net in advance of the event.
 
When: Tuesday, February 25 at 7PM
Where: LWSD Resource Center 


Donations Needed for EMS Health Room

The Health Room is in need of nut-free snacks for students. Donations may be brought to the school office, Attn: Health Room. Below is a list of items needed.  Thank you!
 
Ritz crackers / Club crackers / Granola bars (no nuts) / Fruit snacks / Small water bottles / Juice boxes


Scholarships for Seniors and Staff!

Each year, the Lake Washington PTSA Council awards a variety of scholarships to graduating seniors and to LWSD certificated staff. This year's application has already opened. The deadline is April 2, 2020 at noon – Applications due by noon at your local high school. Click here for flier.
