Annual Youth Group Baked Potato Supper will be held Wednesday, Feb. 26th, with serving from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in Fellowship Hall. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children. Volunteer and donation sign-up sheets are posted in Fellowship Hall or contact Jasmine Schiller at 608-426-0654 if you are interested in helping. Proceeds will help fund the youth mission trip to Benton Harbor, MI, this summer.
Ash Wednesday service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 26th, at 7:00 pm at St. John's. We will be joined by members of Union Presbyterian Church, and our combined choirs will provide music. Rev. Stacy Cavanaugh, pastor at Union Presbyterian, will preach. A service will also be held at St. Clare Friedensheim at 4:00pm.
Join us every Wednesday from March 4th to April 1st for a Lenten lunch and devotion time in Fellowship Hall. Serving will begin at noon and the devotion time will conclude by 12:50pm. A freewill offering will be accepted. This will be an opportunity for good food, fellowship and spiritual reflection as we make our Lenten journey together.
Church Camp
The calendar may say winter, but it's not too early to think about summer church camp. Registration for all camp sessions at Moon Beach in St. Germain, Pilgrim Center in Ripon and a new site, Cedar Valley in West Bend, is now being accepted. Registration information and a description of all camp opportunities can be found on the UCC outdoor ministry website at ucci.org. Many of the sessions fill up quickly so register soon. Printed information on the camp offerings and registration forms are available in the library. To help defray the cost of each session, the Southwest Association automatically awards a scholarship to all campers and St. John's also offers scholarships with money raised from our annual pizza sale. Scholarship information is also available in the library.
Dear Friends,
I am so blessed to be serving Christ with you all!!! Please accept my sincerest appreciation for your warm and welcoming reception of me and of my family during my candidate weekend. We were so happy to meet many of the wonderful members and guests of St. John’s, and I am so looking forward to meeting and getting to know all the members and friends of this welcoming community of believers.
I want to thank Pastor Todd, the Search Committee, and the Personal Committee for your engagement with me. Your gracious hospitality was so appreciated, and I will remember the entire process— from my first interview to my candidate sermon— with a heart full of gladness and gratitude. Thank you to the congregation at large for your welcome and for your obvious dedication to Christ’s mission through St Johns.
I am delighted to be here among you, and I want to thank you for your confidence in my skills and gifts that are now joined to yours. I am so looking forward to serving alongside you. Please know that I have an open door policy and am happy to meet with you whenever you have something specific on your mind, have questions of spiritual direction or would just like to become better acquainted.
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Christie
Pastor Christie will host 2 get-togethers
Two get-togethers are planned: the first on Tuesday, Feb. 25th, from 9:00am-10:30am with coffee, fruit and donuts and the second on Thursday, Feb. 27th from 6:00pm-7:30pm with wine, soft drinks and finger-food. Both will be held in the Link Room. All are welcome!
These informal occasions will be an opportunity both for fellowship and to hear about your history at St. John’s and in the community and what you hope for the future.
If you are able to attend, please call the church office at 325-2165 and let Brandi know which day so we have an idea of how much to supply.
Looking forward to seeing you! Pastor Christie
SCRIP! Each day we are getting closer to Spring, something which we all look forward to. It means a new start as things around us come back to life. So it is with Scrip. We are off to a fresh new year of Scrip, one which will hopefully be even more successful than last year. To make this happen we need YOUR support. Would you like to surprise your children/grandchildren with a little something for no reason at all? We have a nice selection of $10 cards. See you in Fellowship Hall Sunday morning around 10:00am. Thanks to our Scrip supporters.
AMAZON! Just a reminder, if you shop on Amazon, please go to smile.amazon.com and choose St. John’s UCC, Monroe, WI. In so doing, it will be another way to financially support our church. Thank you.
Please join us for Fellowship hour after the 9:00am service
from September through May in Fellowship Hall.
Enjoy treats, coffee and a great time socializing with members and friends.
While you are there, pick up some Scrip cards and partake in other fun events
that may be happening that Sunday.
To help make fellowship time happen, men and women of St. John’s are assigned to a service group. When your name appears on that month’s calendar, a donation of treats (cookies, bars, brownies, muffins, donuts, crackers, cheese in bulk or cheese trays, fruit of any kind or any other baked goods) can be brought to the church any Sunday morning.
We also try to have gluten-free items available.
If time is short, picking up items at the grocery story is a great idea.
If baking isn’t your thing or you just don’t have time to bake, you can make a monetary donation for needed items such as coffee, lemonade or milk.
Donations may be mailed or dropped off at the church office.
You are welcome to email Mary Ann Krebs at makrebs@tds.net or call her at 325-9208 or Cathy Kehoe at kehoe4@tds.net or 328-1320 with your questions.
You may also call the church office at 325-2165.
Thank you for your support.
