6th Sunday After Epiphany
In today’s reading from Deuteronomy we are called to choose life by loving and obeying God. Much of today’s gospel reading echoes portions of the Ten Commandments. Jesus’ instructions to the crowd reveal a pattern of behavior that honors both God and the neighbor, resulting in life and health for the whole community. We too are invited to embrace these commandments, not out of fear of retribution, but because God has promised that to do so means life for us.(Sundays and Seasons)
Readings and Psalm

NEW BANNER
We are many different people with a multitude of backgrounds and experiences. Some days we feel joy and lightness, others we feel lost and longing for connection, but we gather together. Sometimes in Epiphany we are reminded of Holy Week, or in Advent the miracles after Pentecost. This fabric art, with its rainbow of colours and textures and sizes and angles, is meant to reflect beauty in diversity and this togetherness of contrasting seasons, feelings, and people.
It will be displayed in any or all of our church seasons and can have different fabrics worked in from time to time.  Thank you to our Worship Decor Team for creating this!
NNO SYNOD STAFF ANNOUNCEMENT
Assistant to the Bishop
We are happy to announce that Sister Michelle Collins has accepted the call to serve as Assistant to the Bishop for the MNO Synod. She will begin her duties in April or as soon as she’s able to finalize the immigration process and relocate to Winnipeg. As Assistant to the Bishop, Sr. Michelle will work with Bishop Jason and the synod council, alongside all rostered leaders and congregational leaders, to strengthen the synod’s vision of discipleship, transformation, community and connection.
When asked about her passion for this position, Sr. Michelle responded, “What excites me about this position is the opportunity to participate in the shared ministry vision of being empowered by God, shepherding the church and serving the world.  I am excited to see what God is doing in and through the people and congregations of the MNO Synod, and am humbled at the invitation to participate in God’s mission in this context.”
Sister Michelle Collins was consecrated in the ELCA as a Minister of Word and Service in 2011, at Advent Lutheran Church in Melbourne, Florida.  She is rostered as a Deacon in the ELCA and is a member of the Deaconess Community of the ELCA.  Most recently, she has been serving the Florida-Bahamas Synod as the Director for Communication and Discipleship.  Since being called as a Deacon, Sr. Michelle has provided leadership and support in a variety of faith formation and communication ministries throughout the synod. Throughout her ministry, Sr. Michelle has been deeply involved in faith formation ministry for all ages, communications, ecumenical and global mission partnership support, and leadership formation.

Sr. Michelle has a degree in Journalism from Valparaiso University (Indiana) and in Early Childhood Education from Rasmussen College (Minnesota).  She received an M.A. in Educational Leadership at Luther Seminary (Minnesota) in 2007.

Please welcome Sr. Michelle to your synod staff with the confidence that her presence will strengthen the purpose of the Office of the Bishop, and strengthen our ministry together in MNO.
