It's actually happening...

Welcome to my new newsletter!

I am so excited to finally be launching this monthly newsletter. It's been a long time coming. As a freelance writer, chronic volunteer, and proud fighter on the frontlines of the pro-choice movement, I've been searching for a way to dig a little deeper and make connections between my work, my writing, and living in DC. I'm hoping that this newsletter can do just that!

A little bit about me: I've been an activist in DC since early 2016 when I participated in the counter-protest to the March for Life and volunteered at the Whole Woman's Health v Texas rally.  I majored in Women's Studies in college and spent most of my time volunteering, interning, protesting, or writing. This newsletter is the culmination of that work.

The first edition, an extra special January AND February newsletter, will hit your inbox NEXT WEEK on February 28th. So I hope you stick around at least until then!

Here's what you can expect:

A brief (and hopefully humorous) summary of my month.

Chances are I either:
  • protested,
  • rallied,
  • volunteered, or
  • attended a cool event...
And I want to talk about it! Being on the frontlines of some of the most important fights for reproductive freedom affords me a really unique view of what this movement is like. Washington, DC is a pro-choice city through and through and it's a privilege for me to get to live here and do this work and I want to share it with you.

Have suggestions or questions? Just reply to this email and I will get back to you or answer your email in my next newsletter.
Things I've written or published this month

Now, as much as I love social media and the subscribers to my website, I find it hard to share the things I'm proud of and feel like I'm reaching folks. While there is an option to sign up for email alerts on my website, I think a neat, well-designed newsletter is much more reader-friendly and conducive to building a well-connected audience. And that's what this is all about. So, if you are looking to read what I've written, this is the place to go.
You'll also get Goose pics. How could I resist? Look at him. I mean, come on.
Recommendations

Real talk: this is more of a way to actually incentivize me to read more. I have so many (too many) books and there are still so many I haven't read. So I hope that there are at least one or two books that I can recommend each month. Or movies. Or other cool things. We'll find out together.

News

What the f**k is happening in the country this month? What garbage fire are we witnessing or what victory should we be celebrating? This is where you can find my commentary on one or two stories from this month that I've been reflecting on. This may blend with the monthly summaries so if you don't see this section explicitly, it's here somewhere. Most of my work revolves around politics anyways.

And other cool stuff

That's the gist! If you've read this far, you're my new best friend. Sorry, I don't make the rules. Please consider subscribing and, if you're feeling generous, maybe forward this along to someone who you might think get a kick out of this newsletter too.
